Swatch FIVB World Tour
The FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour (known between 2003 and 2012 as the FIVB Beach Volleyball Swatch World Tour for sponsorship reasons) was the worldwide professional beach volleyball tour for both men and women organized by the ' (Fédération Internationale de Volleyball, FIVB), the sport's global governing body. The World Tour was introduced 1989 for men and in 1992 for women being held yearly since then until 2021 when it was replaced by the new Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour. Several tournaments were staged throughout the year. All athletes who competed in the qualifying and main draws of the tournaments earned points in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Rankings, and after the last stage the pair that accumulated the most points during the year was declared the champion of the World Tour (only points from 75% of the tournaments in the season were considered for the ranking). Swatch is a Swiss watch company founded in 1983 by Ernst Thomke, Elmar Mock, and Jacques Müller. It is a subsidiary of The Swatch Group. 2017 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour
The 2017 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour was the global elite professional beach volleyball circuit organized by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) for the 2017 beach volleyball season. The 2017 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Calendar comprised three FIVB World Tour 5-star tournaments, two 4-star, four 3-star, four 2-star and six 1-star events, the World Championships and the World Tour Finals, all organised by the FIVB. Nancy Reno
Nancy Reno (born December 24, 1965) is an American female retired beach volleyball player. She won the bronze medal at the 1997 World Championships in Los Angeles, partnering with Karolyn Kirby. The pair also won the tournament at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, at which time beach volleyball was a demonstration sport. Reno finished in fifth place at the inaugural beach volleyball competition at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, alongside Holly McPeak. In Reno's beach volleyball career, she won 38 tournaments and $610,000 in prizes. Reno retired from beach volleyball in 2000. Karolyn Kirby
Karolyn Kirby (born June 30, 1961) is an American female retired beach volleyball player. She won the bronze medal at the 1997 World Championships in Los Angeles, California, partnering with Nancy Reno. The pair also won the 1992 Olympic tournament, at which time beach volleyball was a demonstration sport. In her career in beach volleyball, Kirby won 67 tournaments and $680,000 in prizes. 29 of her tournament wins were with partner Liz Masakayan. Kirby won numerous awards as a beach volleyball player. She was WPVA Most Valuable Player in 1990, 1991, 1993, and 1994. She was WPVA Best Offensive Player in 1990 and WPVA Best Hitter in 1992. Randy Stoklos
Randy Stoklos (born December 13, 1960) is a retired American beach volleyball player. Stoklos is the first player to earn $1 million playing competitive beach volleyball. He is a five-time winner of the prestigious Manhattan Open. Volleyball career Stoklos played college volleyball at UCLA and left early to focus on beach volleyball. He won his first Manhattan Open partnering with Jim Menges in 1981. He then went on to dominate the sport with partner Sinjin Smith in the 1980s and early 1990s. Stoklos has 122 career wins, which ranks him third of all time. He was selected as MVP of the AVP in 1988, 1989, and 1991. He was selected as the Best Setter in 1989. Sinjin Smith
Christopher St. John "Sinjin" Smith (born May 7, 1957) is an American former professional beach volleyball player. He was the first player to win 100 career tournaments, and won numerous Manhattan Open titles with Karch Kiraly and Randy Stoklos as partners. College Smith went to college at UCLA, where he was a setter. UCLA won the National Championship in Smith's freshman year. In his junior year, the team again reached the finals before losing to Pepperdine, and Smith was selected to the All-Tournament Team. In his senior year in 1979, the Bruins defeated cross-town rival USC to win the National Championship. Smith was again selected to the All-Tournament Team, and was voted the Championship's Most Outstanding Player. Smith was selected as an All-American in both his junior and senior years.
