Sverrir Þór Sverrisson
Sverrir Þór Sverrisson (born 23 May 1975) is an Icelandic basketball coach and former player for the Icelandic national basketball team. He previously coached Keflavík women's team where he won the national championship in 2017. As a coach he has won the Icelandic women's championship three times and the men's national championship once. Coaching career Sverrir retired from top level play in 2010 and took over as head coach of Njarðvík women's team. He led them to the national championship in 2012. In January 2016, Sverrir was hired as the head coach of Úrvalsdeild kvenna club Keflavík, replacing Margrét Sturlaugsdóttir. He led the club to victory in the Icelandic Basketball Cup on February 11, 2017, and to the national championship on April 26 the same year. On April 5, 2018, Sverrir was hired as the head coach of Keflavík men's team. He unexpectedly resigned from Keflavík in May 2019. Úrvalsdeild kvenna; English: Women's Premier League, known as Subway deild kvenna for sponsorship reasons, is the highest basketball competition among women's clubs in Iceland. It is administrated by the Icelandic Basketball Federation. It was founded in 1952 and, until 2007, it was known as 1. deild kvenna (English: Women's First division). The Icelandic Women's Basketball Company Cup, commonly known as the Women's Company Cup (Icelandic: Fyrirtækjabikar kvenna), was an annual basketball competition between clubs in Iceland that was organized by the Icelandic Basketball Federation. It was Iceland's second-tier cup competition, and is not to be confused with Iceland's first-tier cup competition, the Icelandic Cup. History and format The Company Cup was founded in 2000 and its first edition, bearing the name ''Kjörísbikarinn'' after its sponsor ''Kjörís'', took place in December that year. It included all five Úrvalsdeild kvennaa teams and three teams from the second-tier 1. deild kvenna, with Keflavík, KFÍ, KR and ÍS advancing to the final four. 2016–17 Úrvalsdeild Kvenna (basketball)
The 2016–17 Úrvalsdeild kvenna was the 60th season of the Úrvalsdeild kvenna, the top tier women's basketball league on Iceland. The season started on October 5, 2016 and ended on April 24, 2017. Keflavík won its sixteenth title by defeating defending champions Snæfell 3–1 in the Finals. Competition format The participating teams first played a conventional round-robin schedule with every team playing each opponent twice "home" and twice "away" for a total of 28 games. The top four teams qualified for the championship playoffs whilst the bottom team was relegated to Division 1. Daníel Guðni Guðmundsson (born 17 November 1986) is an Icelandic basketball coach and a former player. During his playing career, he won the Icelandic Basketball Cup in 2014, and the Icelandic Super Cup three times, in 2004, 2006 and 2013. Playing career Daníel came up through the junior ranks of Njarðvík and appeared in his first senior games with the club during the 2004–2005 Úrvalsdeild karla season. He spent the following season with 1. deild karla club FSu before returning to Njarðvík in 2006. In 2008, Daníel signed with newly promoted Breiðablik. In 16 games, he averaged 8.6 points and helped Breiðablik to an 8th-place finish and a seat in the playoffs. The following season, Daníel averaged a career high 11.0 points per game but the team was unable to reproduce the previous season success and ended being relegated with a 5-17 record.
