Sven Libaek
Sven Erik Libaek (born 20 September 1938) is a Norwegian-Australian composer, record producer and musician. He composes film and TV soundtrack music and, as the staff producer for the Australian division of CBS Records, influenced the Australian popular music scene in the mid-1960s. In 1982, an album titled ''Endless Love'' peaked at number 71 in Australia; his only top 100 charting release. Biography Libaek was born in Norway on 20 September 1938, trained as both a pianist and an actor and is a graduate of the Juilliard School in New York. He first achieved international recognition with a role in the Louis de Rochemont film '' Windjammer'' in which he both acted and performed as piano soloist with Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops Orchestra. History The series' purpose was to document life in rural Australia for the information of Australian city dwellers. The stories were identified by ABC staff working in rural areas. Based in Sydney (part of the ABC Rural division), the production team consisted of a producer, a reporter, a sound recordist and camera operator, possibly accompanied by trainees. 370 episodes each of 30 minutes were produced in 32 series between 1968 and 1991 and were screened on the ABC network in prime time to high ratings. Valerie May Taylor AM (born 9 November 1935) is a conservationist, photographer and filmmaker, and an inaugural member of the diving hall-of-fame. With her husband Ron Taylor, she made documentaries about sharks, and filmed sequences for films including ''Jaws'' (1975). Early life Born in Paddington, Sydney on 9 November 1935, Taylor spent her early years in Sydney. Her mother was a housewife and her father an engineer for Exide Batteries. The family moved to New Zealand in 1939 to set up a battery factory there, but were unable to return to Australia when WWII broke out. At 12 years of age Taylor contracted polio during the 1948 polio epidemic.
