Svein Sigfusson
Svein Olafur Sigfusson (July 15, 1912 – September 20, 1992) was a Canadian athlete and entrepreneur. He won a bronze medal in the discus throw at the 1950 British Empire Games and was Canadian champion for the hammer throw. The son of Manitoba politician Skuli Sigfusson and his wife Gudrun Arnason, he was born in Lundar, Manitoba. Sigfusson operated a transportation company in northern Manitoba on a system of roads, most of which he had developed himself. The discus throw (), also known as disc throw, is a track and field sport in which the participant athlete throws an oblate spheroid weight (object), weight called a discus in an attempt to mark a further distance than other competitors.
