Suzuki TS Series
The Suzuki TS series is a family of two-stroke, dual-sport motorcycles made by Suzuki since 1969. The series was the first Suzuki trail bikes sold on the mass market. A dual-sport motorcycle is a type of street-legal motorcycle that is designed for both on and off-road use. The terms ''all-road,'' ''on/off road,'' and ''dual-purpose'' are also used for this class of motorcycles. Dual-sports are equipped with street-legal equipment such as lights, speedometer, mirrors, horn, license plate mounting, and muffler and can, therefore, be registered and licensed. Evolution of dual-sports The concept of a versatile motorcycle equally at home on dirt and pavement is as old as motorcycling itself. Most roads were still unpaved when motorized bicycles first appeared around 1900. In a sense, all motorcycles at that time were dual-sports, intended to be used on dirt as well as pavement. 1981 Suzuki TS125
The 1981 Suzuki TS125 Dual Sport motorcycle is powered by a 123 cc 2-stroke cycle, air-cooled engine. The TS125 was introduced for the Japanese home market in December 1970. It had 13 bhp, five speeds and high-drawn exhaust pipe. It also had a sister model, a trail version called TC-125 (Prospector in USA) with dual-range gearbox with eight speeds, luggage rack and higher mounted front mud guard that made the bike more suitable for terrain. Air-cooled engines rely on the circulation of air directly over heat dissipation fins or hot areas of the engine to cool them in order to keep the engine within operating temperatures. In all combustion engines, a great percentage of the heat generated (around 44%) escapes through the exhaust, not through the metal fins of an air-cooled engine (12%). About 8% of the heat energy is transferred to the oil, which although primarily meant for lubrication, also plays a role in heat dissipation via a cooler.
