''Suture'' is a compilation album by Chemlab, released on January 23, 2001, by Invisible Records. It is an expanded reissue of ''Magnetic Field Remixes'' (itself containing the complete contents of the Extended play, EP ''Ten Ton Pressure''), with remixes from the "Electric Molecular" and "Exile on Mainline" singles and one previously unreleased track named "Static Haze". Reception Rick Anderson of allmusic gave ''Suture'' three out of five stars and said "highly recommended to fans of funky industrialism." A critic for Ink 19 compared the collection favorably to Nitzer Ebb and praised the album for being "a fine slice of spiteful agit-dance, very familiar in a sense." ''Suture'' is a 1993 American thriller film written and directed, and produced by Scott McGehee and David Siegel. It stars Dennis Haysbert and Mel Harris. It was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 1994 Cannes Film Festival. Plot After murdering his father, wealthy Vincent Towers decides to fake his own death. He plants a car bomb in an attempt to kill a nearly identical half-brother, Clay Arlington, after persuading Arlington to switch identities with him. Arlington survives, but requires facial reconstruction and also has lost most of his memory. Dr. Renee Descartes is there during his recovery. Towers resurfaces and tries once more to eliminate him, but is killed himself. Arlington makes a decision to make his new identity a permanent one. Suture (band)
Suture was an American punk rock and indie rock trio based in Washington, D.C., affiliated with early riot grrrl. Suture consisted of Kathleen Hanna (electric bass guitar, drums, vocals), Sharon Cheslow (electric guitar, electric bass guitar, vocals), and Dug E. Bird aka Doug Birdzell (electric guitar, drums). History Suture formed in summer 1991 while Hanna was in Washington, D.C., with her band Bikini Kill, and Kathi Wilcox was on vacation in Europe. Hanna was previously in Viva Knievel in Olympia, Washington. Cheslow had been in D.C. bands Chalk Circle and Bloody Mannequin Orchestra, while Birdzell had been in D.C. bands Beefeater and Fidelity Jones. Cheslow had moved to San Francisco in 1990 where she'd met Hanna during Bikini Kill's spring 1991 tour with Nation of Ulysses, and while Cheslow and Hanna were both living in D.C. during summer 1991 they collaborated with Birdzell. In anatomy, a suture is a fairly rigid joint between two or more hard elements of an organism, with or without significant overlap of the elements. Sutures are found in the skeletons or exoskeletons of a wide range of animals, in both invertebrates and vertebrates. Sutures are found in animals with hard parts from the Cambrian period to the present day. Sutures were and are formed by several different methods, and they exist between hard parts that are made from several different materials. Vertebrate skeletons The skeletons of vertebrate animals (fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals) are made of bone, in which the main rigid ingredient is calcium phosphate. In anatomy, fibrous joints are joints connected by fibrous tissue, consisting mainly of collagen. Ammonitic Suture
Ammonoids are extinct, (typically) coiled-shelled cephalopods comprising the subclass Ammonoidea. They are more closely related to living octopuses, squid, and cuttlefish (which comprise the clade Coleoidea) than they are to nautiluses (family Nautilidae). The earliest ammonoids appeared during the Emsian stage of the Early Devonian (410.62 million years ago), with the last species vanishing during or soon after the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event (66 million years ago). They are often called ammonites, which is most frequently used for members of the order Ammonitida, the only remaining group of ammonoids from the Jurassic up until their extinction. Trilobites (; meaning "three-lobed entities") are extinct marine arthropods that form the class Trilobita. In structural geology, a suture is a joining along a major fault zone, of separate terranes, tectonic units that have different plate tectonic, metamorphic and paleogeographic histories. The suture is often represented on the surface by an orogen or mountain range. Overview In plate tectonics, sutures are the remains of subduction zones, and the terranes that are joined are interpreted as fragments of different palaeocontinents or tectonic plates. Outcrops of sutures can vary in width from a few hundred meters to a couple of kilometers. They can be networks of mylonitic shear zones or brittle fault zones, but are usually both.
