Summit (topography)
A summit is a point on a surface that is higher in elevation than all points immediately adjacent to it. The topography, topographic terms acme, apex, peak (mountain peak), and zenith are synonymous. The term (mountain top) is generally used only for a mountain peak that is located at some distance from the nearest point of higher elevation. The Sustut River is a major tributary of the Skeena River in the north-central Interior of British Columbia, Canada. The Hogem Ranges are a group of mountain ranges in the northwest part of the Omineca Country of the North-Central Interior of British Columbia, Canada, located between Takla Lake (W) and the Omineca River (E) and from the Nation Lakes (SE) to the Sustut River (NW). Sustut Lake
Sustut Lake is a lake in the Omineca Mountains of the Northern Interior of British Columbia, Canada, located northwest of Germansen Landing in the Cassiar Land District. It is the source of the Sustut River, which flows roughly west and is a major tributary of the Skeena River. The lake's old, or alternate, name is Bear Wallow Lake. Kemess Mine
The Kemess Mine was an open-pit copper and gold mine, located just northeast of the foot of Thutade Lake, at the head of the Finlay River, in the Omineca Mountains of the Northern Interior of British Columbia, Canada. It was operated by Royal Oak Mines from 1998 to 1999, when it was bought by Northgate Minerals. Northgate operated the mine until its closure in 2011; that year Northgate was taken over by AuRico Gold. In 2014 AuRico Gold partitioned off its portion of Kemess Mine ownership creating a new company called AuRico Metals. AuRico Metals was acquired by Centerra Gold in January 2018. The deposit mined was a copper-gold porphyry. Two-thousanders are mountains that have a height of at least 2,000 metres above sea level, but less than 3,000 metres. The Omineca Mountains, also known as "the Ominecas", are a group of remote mountain ranges in the Boreal Cordillera of north-central British Columbia, Canada. They are bounded by the Finlay River on the north, the Rocky Mountain Trench (here filled by Williston Lake) on the east, the Nation River (British Columbia), Nation Lakes on the south, and the upper reaches of the Omineca River on the west. The Omineca Country, also called the Omineca District or the Omineca, is a historical geographic region of the Northern Interior of British Columbia, roughly defined by the basin of the Omineca River but including areas to the south which allowed access to the region during the Omineca Gold Rush of the 1860s. The term Omineca District also refers to the Omineca Mining District which referred to the same area but was a government administrative division.
