Susan Swecker
Susan Reid Swecker (born March 14, 1955) is an American public affairs consultant who served as the chair of the Democratic Party of Virginia from 2015 to 2025. She was chairwoman of the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Board. Early life and education Swecker was born and raised on a farm in Highland County, Virginia. She grew up in Stuarts Draft, Virginia. She volunteered in the Jimmy Carter 1976 presidential campaign. Swecker served as chairman of the democratic party of Highland County for six months. She attended Virginia Tech and earned her B.A. in political science from Mary Baldwin University in 1977. She completed a Juris Doctor degree at the Washington and Lee University School of Law. Blue Ridge is a census-designated place (CDP) in southern Botetourt County, Virginia, United States. The population was 3,185 at the 2020 census. The CDP is located along U.S. Route 460. It is part of the Roanoke metropolitan area. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 6.088 square miles (15.77 km²). 2004 Virginia Democratic Presidential Primary
The 2004 Virginia Democratic presidential primary took place on February 10, 2004 as part of the 2004 United States Democratic presidential primaries. The delegate allocation is proportional; the candidates are awarded delegates in proportion to the percentage of votes received and is open to anyone. A total of 82 (of 98) delegates are awarded proportionally. A 15 percent threshold is required to receive delegates. Frontrunner John Kerry won the primary with Senator John Edwards obtaining over 20% and receiving delegates. Analysis Kerry won most of the counties and all the congressional districts in the state.
