Susan Long (skier)
Susan Deborah Long (born April 4, 1960, in Glen Ridge, New Jersey) is an American cross-country skier who competed from 1983 to 1986. She finished seventh in the 4 × 5 km relay at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo. Long finished 17th in the 20 km event at the 1985 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Seefeld. Her best World Cup finish was 11th in a 5 km event in Czechoslovakia in 1984. She also competed collegiately at Middlebury College Middlebury College is a private liberal arts college in Middlebury, Vermont. The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 1985 took place January 16–27, 1985 in Seefeld, Austria (near Innsbruck). It was the ninth appearance of the 10 km race. The competition was held on Thursday, February 9, 1984 at Veliko Polje, Igman and was the first final to be held at the games. Marja-Liisa Hämäläinen of Finland took Gold and was the second Finn to win this event after Lydia Wideman in 1952. The 1976 gold medal winner, Raisa Smetanina, won silver.
