'Susan Tepper'' (August 30, 1943 – February 18, 1991) was an American Neo-Expressionist and Figurative painter. Early life and education Susan Tepper was born Susan Levin on August 30, 1943, in Plainfield, New Jersey, the daughter of Philip J. Arielle Tepper is a theater and film producer, native New Yorker, and founder of the concierge service, WhatShouldWeDo?! She also serves as the Board Chair for The Public Theater in New York. New York Studio School
The New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture at 8 West 8th Street, in Greenwich Village, Manhattan, New York City, New York State is an art school formed in 1963 by a group of students and their teacher, Mercedes Matter, all of whom had become disenchanted with the fragmented nature of art instruction inside traditional art programs and universities. Today it occupies the building that previously housed the Whitney Museum of American Art. Frank Wimberley
Frank Wimberley (born August 31, 1926) is an African American abstract expressionist artist. Biography Frank Wimberley grew up in suburban New Jersey. After serving in the Army, he studied painting at Howard University with James Amos Porter, James Lesesne Wells, and Loïs Mailou Jones. There he developed an interest in jazz, which lead to friendships with Miles Davis, Ron Carter, and Wayne Shorter. Wimberley is a longtime resident of Sag Harbor, NY. He and his wife Juanita moved there in the 1960s into a modernist house that they designed. In October 2020, '' T: The New York Times Style Magazine'' showcased the Wimberleys in their home in a feature on black families who settled in Sag Harbor in the 1930s and the decades after. The East Hampton Center for Contemporary Art (EHCCA) was a non-profit arts center and exhibition space located at 16R Newtown Lane in East Hampton, New York. History EHCCA was founded in 1985 by artists Susan Tepper and Jennifer Cross. Tepper provided the majority of the funding and Cross served as Director and Curator from 1985 to 1991.
