Susan Kinyua
Susan Kinyua (born c. 1970) is a Kenyan economist known for her work in Africa. She won the 2024 Harambee Award for the Promotion and Equality of African Women Life Kinyua was born in Meru in about 1970 where she one of five children. There were four sisters and her brother and unusually her parents did not invest all their efforts to promote her brothers education, as she and her sisters also had the same offer. She went to work for Barclay's Bank after studying economics, but she left a well paid job to work with women at the Kianda Foundation. In 2024 Kinyua was in Madrid where she was awarded that years Harambee Award for the Promotion and Equality of African Women. Meru, Kenya
Meru is a town in eastern Kenya. It is the headquarters of the Meru County, and the seventh largest urban centre in the country. Meru urban centre had a population of 80,191 residents during the 2019 census. Overview The town is located at 0.047035 degrees north and 37.649803 degrees east, on the northeast slopes of Mount Kenya. The Kathita River passes adjacent to the town. The main administrative part of the town is on the north side of the Kathita River. While the south side of the river is where residential areas are situated. Meru Town is situated about 8 km north of the equator, at an altitude of approximately 1500 m, in an area of mixed forest and clearings, small towns, villages and rural farms. Florence Oloo
Florence Oloo (born 1960) is a Kenyan scientist and professor of chemical sciences at the Technical University of Kenya, in Nairobi. She was the first Kenyan woman to receive a PhD in Chemistry. Biography Florence Oloo was born in Eldoret in 1960; since childhood, she has been passionate about science. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nairobi, and while there she was the only female student in the chemistry program. She went on to earn a degree in Philosophy and Education from the University of Rome, and a PhD in Chemistry from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in Juja, Kenya, becoming the first woman from her country to earn a doctorate in chemistry. The Demographics of Kenya is monitored by the Kenyan National Bureau of Statistics. Kenya is a multi-ethnic state in East Africa. Its total population was at 47,558,296 as of the 2019 census. A national census was conducted in 1999, although the results were never released. A new census was undertaken in 2009, but turned out to be controversial, as the questions about ethnic affiliation seemed inappropriate after the ethnic violence of the previous year. Preliminary results of the census were published in 2010. Kenya's population was reported as 47.6 million during the 2019 census compared to 38.6 million inhabitants 2009, 30.7 million in 1999, 21.4 million in 1989, and 15.3 million in 1979.
