Suryatna Subrata
Suryatna Subrata (1939 – 5 April 2024) was an Indonesian military officer, bureaucrat and politician. He was a member of the Supreme Advisory Council between 1998 and 2003, and had previously become secretary-general of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Vice Governor of West Java. Early life Suryatna Subrata was born in Cianjur, in what is today West Java province, in 1939. After completing high school, he enrolled at the Army Academy, graduating as part of the class of 1961. He would later also study at the Indonesian Army Command and General Staff College and at the National Resilience Institute. Military career By 1977, Suryatna had been assigned to the Siliwangi Military Region, as an assistant to the unit's chief of staff. In 1978, he was assigned to the Philippines as defense attache, remaining there until 1981. Upon his return to Indonesia, he was appointed chief of staff of a military district within Siliwangi, then as its commander with the rank of colonel in 1982. ...

Supreme Advisory Council
The Supreme Advisory Council (, DPA), was an Advisory board, advisory council for the President of Indonesia which existed from 1945 to 1950, and then again from 1959 to 2003. Largely composed of senior and retired government figures, the DPA was generally regarded as powerless. Its functions were limited to offering proposals to the Indonesian government, government on matters of national importance as well as opinions on matters raised by the president. The DPA was succeeded by the Presidential Advisory Council in 2007. Background There was no definitive source about the background of the council's formation when it was embodied in the Constitution of Indonesia. National Resilience Institute (, abbreviated as Lemhannas) is an Indonesian Non-Ministerial Government Agency tasked with carrying out government duties in the field of education for national leaders, strategic assessment of national resilience and strengthening of national values. History The National Defense Institute was established on 20 May 1965, based on Government Regulation No. 37/1964, and is directly under the President. The idea of the formation of the agency is to create an educational institute in defense to prepare and develop future national leaders (civil servants and military officers) in the context of political strategy and national defense.
