Surrey Quays Railway Station
Surrey Quays is a station on the Windrush line of the London Overground, located in Rotherhithe in the London Borough of Southwark. Situated in Travelcard Zone 2, the next station to the north is ; to the south, the line splits into branches to , , and . Closed in late 2007 as a London Underground station, it was refurbished and reopened as part of the London Overground network on 27 April 2010. History The station was built by the East London Railway Company and opened on 7 December 1869; it was originally known as Deptford Road. On 17 July 1911 it was renamed Surrey Docks in reference to the nearby Surrey Commercial Docks (which closed in the 1960s), and further renamed Surrey Quays on 24 October 1989, following the construction of the nearby Surrey Quays Shopping Centre. London Overground
London Overground (also known simply as the Overground) is a Urban rail in the United Kingdom, suburban rail network serving London and its environs. Established in 2007 to take over Silverlink Metro routes, it now serves a large part of Greater London as well as Hertfordshire, with 113 stations on the six lines that make up the network. London Buses route 188 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between North Greenwich bus station and Tottenham Court Road station, it is operated by London Central, a subsidary of Go-Ahead London. Running between Canada Water bus station and Hampstead Heath, it is operated by London Central, a subsidiary of Go-Ahead London. East London Line Extension
The East London line extension (ELLX) project was a British railway engineering project in London, managed by Transport for London. The project involved extending the East London Line (formerly part of the London Underground network) and making it part of the mainline London Overground network. This was done by re-opening sections of disused railway line and by converting electrification, signalling, lineside signage and communication systems, etc. to mainline standards.
