Surjuram Girdhari
Surjuram Kahojia Girdhari (14 April 1920 – 15 April 2006) played first-class cricket in India from 1940 to 1960, and then played club cricket in England. Career in western India S.K. Girdhari made his first-class debut in 1940-41 for Sind, playing principally as an off-spinner. In his second match, in 1941-42, batting at number 10, he made 93; thereafter he usually batted higher up the order. In 1944-45 for Western India against Gujarat he scored 44 and 149 and took 1 for 19 and 5 for 23. A few weeks later, in a 12-a-side first-class match, he took 8 for 60. He played for a Rest of India team against the India to England Touring Team in 1946-47. After Partition, Girdhari played a season for Kathiawar in 1947-48. He took 3 for 29 and 8 for 55 and made 40 not out and 14 not out in a low-scoring victory over Gujarat. In his next match he took 2 for 63 and 6 for 63 in a two-wicket victory over Baroda. Netherfield Cricket Club Ground is a cricket ground in Kendal, Cumbria (formerly part of Westmorland). The first recorded match on the ground was in 1893. The ground hosted its first Minor Counties Championship match in 1956, when Cumberland played the Lancashire Second XI. From 1956 to 2007, the ground hosted 44 Minor Counties Championship matches, with the final Minor Counties Championship match played to date at the ground in 2007 seeing Cumberland host Norfolk. The Lancashire League is a competitive league of local cricket clubs drawn from the small to middle-sized mill towns, mainly but not exclusively, of East Lancashire. Its real importance is probably due to its history of employing professional players of international standing to play in the League. Accrington Cricket Club
Accrington Cricket Club is a cricket club in the Lancashire League, which play their home games at Thorneyholme Road in Accrington. For the 2011 season their captain was Jimmy Hayhurst and their professional was Ashar Zaidi. The club was formed in 1846 and became a founder member of the Lancashire League in 1892. The club has won the League on five occasions, fielding well known cricketers including David Lloyd, Graeme Fowler, Nathan Astle, Bobby Simpson, Eddie Barlow and Shane Warne. In the 21st century, however, the club has struggled and in 2007 it was revealed that the club had debts exceeding £10,000 and that its future was at risk. The club have struggled through these problems though and won the double in 2008 and retained the league title against the odds in 2009. Orissa Cricket Team
The Odisha cricket team (known as Orissa until 2011) is a domestic cricket team based in the Indian state of Odisha. It is in the elite group of the Ranji Trophy. Its main home ground is Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. Home matches are also played at DRIEMS Ground in Cuttack, East Coast Railway Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Veer Surendra Sai Stadium in Sambalpur, KIIT Cricket Stadium in Bhubaneswar and other grounds. The National Sports Council of Assam Ground, also known as the National Sports Council of Assam Stadium, is a former first-class cricket ground in Jorhat, Assam. First-class matches Ten first-class matches were played at the ground between 1953 and 1974, eight of them by Assam in the Ranji Trophy. In all ten matches the home team lost. There were many low innings totals and some notable bowling figures. 1953–54 * Commonwealth XI 393 for 7 declared defeated Assam Governor's XI 121 and 151. Sujit Mukherjee
Sujit Mukherjee (21 August 1930 – 14 January 2003) was an Indian writer, translator, literary critic, publisher, teacher and cricketer. Career Sujit Mukherjee was born in the village of Ariadaha, south of Calcutta, and educated at St. Xavier's High School, Patna, Patna College ( MA) and the University of Pennsylvania (PhD). He taught at Patna College, at the National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla, and at the University of Poona before joining Orient Longman in 1970, where he served as Chief Publisher until 1986. He was a prolific writer on a range of literary topics, as well as a translator from Bangla into English. The Bihar cricket team represents the state of Bihar in Indian domestic cricket competitions. It is run by Bihar Cricket Association. History 1936 to 2004 The team competed in the Ranji Trophy from 1936-37 until 2003–04.
