Surfing At The 2023 Pan American Games
Surfing competitions at the 2023 Pan American Games are scheduled to be held between October 24 and 30, 2023 at Punta de Lobos beach in the Pichilemu commune of Chile. 8 medal events are scheduled to be contested (four per each gender). A total of 88 surfers will qualify to compete at the games. The longboard event will be used as a qualifier for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. Qualification A total of 88 surfers will qualify across various qualification tournaments. The host nation Chile, will be automatically be allocated ten quota spots across the eight events. In the shortboard category, a country can enter two athletes, with a maximum one in all other categories. A country can enter a maximum ten surfers (five per gender). An athlete can only qualify one quota for their country. Surfing At The 2019 Pan American Games
Surfing competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games were held between 30 July and 4 August 2019 at the beach in the Punta Negra District of Peru. The sport of surfing will be making its Pan American Games debut. In July 2015, days before the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada, the then Panam Sports added the sport to the Pan American Games sports program. In 2016, the International Olympic Committee made several changes to its sports program, which were subsequently implemented for these games. Surfing was added, but was already included in the 2019 program a year earlier. 8 medal events are scheduled to be contested. Leilani McGonagle (born 14 November 1999) is a Costa Rican professional surfer who competes in the World Surf League. Her brother Noe Mar McGonagle is also a professional surfer. Early life She was born to a British father and an American mother. She was diagnosed with scoliosis after her birth. Before she could walk, her parents pushed her into her first wave. Tatiana "Tati" Guimarães Weston-Webb (born May 9, 1996) is a Brazilian surfer based in Kauai, Hawaii. She is also both American and English.
