Suresh Amonkar
Suresh Kuso Amonkar (15 May 1952 – 6 July 2020) was an Indian politician. Biography He was elected to the Goa Legislative Assembly from Pale in the 1999 and 2002 Goa Legislative Assembly election as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He was Minister of Health, Social Welfare, and Labour & Employment in Francisco Sardinha cabinet from 1999 to 2000 then Minister of Health, Labour & Employment, and Factories and Boilers in First Manohar Parrikar cabinet. He lost the 2007 Goa Legislative Assembly election to the Congress Candidate Gurudas Gawas, he ran as an independent candidate in 2008 By-Election after Gurudas Gawas death as the party had allotted the ticket to youth leader Pramod Sawant and he lost the election to Gurudas Gawas brother Pratap Prabhakar Gauns. Amona, Goa
Amona is a census town in North Goa district in the state of Goa, India. It is believed that Amona was an ancient centre for trade and commerce with a lot of cultivated fertile land and alluvial banks of the Mhadaee, now Mandovi River. The surrounding land holds many cashew plantations and has a Sesa Goa pig iron plant. The rich soil and centralized location in Gomantak with water networks for inland transport allowed Aryans to settle on the land. Remains of ancient fortresses and settlements submerged in the soil around the ferry wharf region have been reported in Amona by the archeology department of Goa. The earliest settlers of this region were primarily the Aryan warriors, administrators; and traders. These warriors in medieval times were a part of the Maratha clans. Pratap Prabhakar Gauns or Pratap Prabhakar Gawas (born 2 August 1963) is an Indian politician from the state of Goa. He was elected to the Goa Legislative Assembly election as a member of the Indian National Congress party in 2008. He won against BJP candidate Pramod Sawant by a margin of 1534 votes. During his tenure in Goa Legislative Assembly, he acted as a member of the Estimates Committee, Committee on Delegations, Panel of Presiding Members, and Committee on Public Undertakings.
