Superworm (film)
Superworm is a 2021 British short computer animated TV film based on the 2012 picture book of the same name written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. Directed by Jac Hamman and Sarah Scrimgeour, the film was produced by Martin Pope and Barney Goodland of Magic Light Pictures and was adapted from the book by Max Lang and Suzanne Lang, with the score composed by René Aubry. The film stars Olivia Colman, Matt Smith, Rob Brydon, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Patricia Allison and Cariad Lloyd. The film was first broadcast on BBC One on 25 December 2021. Plot Superworm is super-long and super-strong, always helping out other animals and insects with his super-body. An evil wizard lizard wants Superworm to dig a tunnel and find hidden treasure. Max Lang (born 1982) is a German-American film director and illustrator. He has been twice nominated Academy Awards in the category of Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, Best Short Animated Film. In 2011, he received an Oscar nomination for ''The Gruffalo (film), The Gruffalo'', and in 2014, he received an Oscar nomination for ''Room on the Broom (film), Room on the Broom''. Helen Brown (née Blackman; born 1954) is a New Zealand-born author, best known for her memoirs about cats and the meaning of life. A Multi-award winning journalist and columnist, she has written 15 books, including her memoir "Cleo", a New York Times and UK Sunday Times bestseller that has been published in more than 18 languages in 73 countries, and sold 2 million copies around the world. Personal life Brown was born in 1954 in New Plymouth. She studied journalism at Wellington Polytechnic. At age 18 she flew to England to marry her first husband, Steve, whom she had met three years prior. They returned to New Zealand and had two sons, Sam and Rob. Axel Scheffler
Axel Scheffler (born ) is a German illustrator and animator based in London. He is best known for his cartoon-like pictures for children's books, in particular ''The Gruffalo'' and '' The Gruffalo's Child'', written by Julia Donaldson. He has also authored/illustrated the ''Pip and Posy'' series of books for children. Early life Scheffler was born on 12 December 1957 in Hamburg, West Germany. He began studying the History of Art at the University of Hamburg but dropped out, deciding instead to do alternative National Service, caring for the mentally ill. He moved to England in 1982, at the age of 25, to study Visual Communications at the Bath Academy of Art in Corsham, Wiltshire. The course also included an exchange to Cooper Union in New York. Computer animation is the process used for digitally generating animations. Julia Donaldson
Julia Donaldson (born Julia Catherine Shields; born ) is an English writer and playwright, and the 2011–2013 Children's Laureate. She is best known for her popular rhyming stories for children, especially those illustrated by Axel Scheffler, which include ''The Gruffalo'', '' Room on the Broom'' and '' Stick Man''. She originally wrote songs for children's television but has concentrated on writing books since the words of one of her songs, "A Squash and a Squeeze", were made into a children's book in 1993. Of her 184 published works, 64 are widely available in bookshops. The remaining 120 are intended for school use and include her Songbirds phonic reading scheme, which is part of the Oxford University Press's Oxford Reading Tree.
