Superman III
''Superman III'' is a 1983 superhero film directed by Richard Lester from a screenplay by David Newman and Leslie Newman based on the DC Comics character Superman. It is the third installment in the ''Superman'' film series and the sequel to ''Superman II'' (1980). Richard Lester Liebman (born January 19, 1932) is an American retired film director, who spent the majority of his professional life in the United Kingdom. He is known for the fast-paced, flamboyant directing he brought to his comedy films, most notably the Beatles' vehicles ''A Hard Day's Night (film), A Hard Day's Night'' (1964) and ''Help! (film), Help!'' (1965), and ''The Knack ...and How to Get It'' (1965). Originally from Philadelphia, Lester began his career directing television, moving to the United Kingdom in the mid-1950s. ''Superman'' The score for the 1978 film ''Superman (1978 film), Superman'', composed and conducted by John Williams, was performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, with John Georgiadis as concertmaster. Recording took place on July 6, 7, 10, 11, 13, 14; September 9–11; October 6 (Irvine Arditti, concertmaster), 15, 24, 31 (Richard Studt, concertmaster), and November 4, 1978, at the Anvil Studios in Denham, Bucks, England. David Newman (screenwriter)
David Newman (February 4, 1937 – June 27, 2003) was an American screenwriter. From the late 1960s through the early 1980s he frequently collaborated with Robert Benton. He was married to fellow writer Leslie Newman, with whom he had two children, until his death in 2003 from a stroke. Career Newman studied at the University of Michigan. He went to work at ''Esquire'' magazine where he met Robert Benton. The two of them wrote ''Bonnie and Clyde'' which made them highly in demand in Hollywood. Canal+ Image International (formerly known as EMI Films, Thorn EMI Screen Entertainment, Lumiere Pictures and Television, and UGC DA) was a British-French film, television, animation studio and distributor.
