Supergrass Songs
Supergrass are an English rock band formed in 1993. For the majority of the band's tenure, the line-up consisted of brothers Gaz (lead vocals, guitar) and Rob Coombes (keyboards), Mick Quinn (bass, backing vocals) and Danny Goffey (drums, backing vocals). Originally a three-piece, the band was officially joined by Rob Coombes in 2002. The band signed to Parlophone Records in 1994 and produced ''I Should Coco'' (1995), the best-selling debut album for the label since the Beatles' '' Please Please Me''. Their first album's fourth single, " Alright", was an international hit. The band went on to release five more albums: ''In It for the Money'' (1997), ''Supergrass'' (1999), ''Life on Other Planets'' (2002), ''Road to Rouen'' (2005) and ''Diamond Hoo Ha'' (2008), as well as a compilation called ''Supergrass Is 10'' (2004). Gaz Coombes
Gareth Michael "Gaz" Coombes (born 8 March 1976) is an English musician, best known as the lead vocalist and guitarist of the alternative rock band Supergrass. He first entered the music scene aged 14 as the lead singer of the band The Jennifers which featured Supergrass bandmate Danny Goffey. Early life Born on 8 March 1976 in Oxford, Coombes is the son of Eileen and John Coombes. His father was a food scientist, who enjoyed playing jazz piano, and his mother was an English teacher. Although he was born in England, he lived with his family in San Francisco, California, from around the age of 5 up until the age of 9, at which point in 1985 they moved to Oxford in England. Coombes played classical piano at this age, but gradually moved on to an interest in playing guitar. Nude Records is an independent record label, established in August 1991 in London. The label was set up and operated by Saul Galpern, who had previously worked with artists such as Simply Red, The Fall, Julian Cope, The Triffids, The Slits and Au Pairs. Alternative Rock
Alternative rock (also known as alternative music, alt-rock or simply alternative) is a category of rock music that evolved from the independent music underground of the 1970s. Taylor Hawkins
Oliver Taylor Hawkins (February 17, 1972 – March 25, 2022) was an American musician who was the drummer and a vocalist of the rock band Foo Fighters, sharing vocals with Dave Grohl. He joined the band in 1997, and remained the band's drummer until his death in March 2022. He recorded eight studio albums with Foo Fighters between 1999 and 2021. Before joining the band, he was a touring drummer for Sass Jordan and Alanis Morissette, as well as the drummer of the progressive experimental band Sylvia. In 2004, Hawkins formed his own side project, Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders, in which he played drums and sang, releasing three studio albums between 2006 and 2019. He formed the supergroup NHC with Jane's Addiction members Dave Navarro and Chris Chaney in 2020, where he also took on lead vocal and drumming duties. The Foo Fighters are an American Rock music, rock band formed in Seattle in 1994. Initially founded as a one-man project by former Nirvana (band), Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, the band comprises vocalist/guitarist Grohl, bassist Nate Mendel, guitarist Pat Smear, guitarist Chris Shiflett, and keyboardist Rami Jaffee. La Cigale (; English: ''The Cicada'') is a theatre located at 120, boulevard de Rochechouart near Place Pigalle, in the 18th arrondissement of Paris. The theatre is part of a complex connected to the Boule Noire. The hall can accommodate 1,389 people standing or 954 seated. The orchestra floor has a scalable platform that can tilt and rise using a hydraulic system. The Inrockuptibles music festival took place at La Cigale for over twenty years. Supergrass Is 10
''Supergrass Is 10'' is a compilation album celebrating the first 10 years of the band Supergrass. It includes singles from their first release, " Caught by the Fuzz" (1994), to their then latest release, " Kiss of Life" (2004). The compilation was released on CD, DVD and double 10" clear vinyl record. The DVD release contains two discs. The first disc is a documentary of the band's first 10 years. The second disc contains videos of all of the singles (with the exception of " Cheapskate") with the option of director's commentary and karaoke lyrics. The song compilation managed to reach No. 4 in the UK charts. In the US, the CD version came with a bonus live CD featuring 12 live and acoustic songs. John Cornfield recorded and mixed the two new tracks featured on the album at Sphere Studios. ''Diamond Hoo Ha'' is the sixth and final studio album by British alternative rock band Supergrass, released in the UK on 24 March 2008, and offers a return to punchier Supergrass songs, in comparison to the more mellow '' Road to Rouen'', their previous album released in 2005. Several songs appearing on the album were performed at Guilfest 2007. In November 2007, the track "Diamond Hoo Ha Man"—one of the songs debuted at Guilfest—was distributed as the first single on a limited vinyl release, restricted to 1500 copies. " Bad Blood" followed as the second single on 17 March 2008, peaking in the top 75 at number 73. Road To Rouen
''Road to Rouen'' is the fifth studio album by English rock band Supergrass. The album was released in the UK on 15 August 2005 by Parlophone, and in the US on 27 September 2005 by Capitol Records. The title refers to the city in northern France where the album was recorded, as well as the 1978 album '' Road to Ruin'' by punk rock band the Ramones. ''Road to Rouen'' was a difficult album for the band for personal reasons, including Danny Goffey's tabloid ordeal and the death of Gaz and Rob Coombes' mother. The album reflected a rough period for the band and was oriented towards longer, looser, more orchestral material. ''Life on Other Planets'' is the fourth studio album by English alternative rock band Supergrass. It is the first album that includes Rob Coombes as an official member of the band, and originally went under the working title of ''Get Lost''. The American edition of the album included many bonus tracks and rare live editions. One of these live editions became infamous when it was discovered you can hear a gunshot in the background of the song. It peaked at #9 in the UK charts. Background The band hired an outside producer, Tony Hoffer, for the record, having felt that their last release, ''Supergrass (album), Supergrass'', lacked some of the urgency of their previous albums: "He helped us keep the takes quite short and sweet", says Danny Goffey.
