Super Magick
''Super Magick'' is the ninth studio album from the New Orleans–based rock group Better Than Ezra, released on May 3, 2024. It is the band's first album in 10 years. The alternative rock album is produced by frontman Kevin Griffin and Emery Dobyns and was recorded at Pink Deer Studios. Release On March 8, 2024, it was announced that the album would be released on May 3, 2024. The album cover was also revealed, which contains Theban writing of track names: "Mystify", "Contact (High)", "Fuzzy", "Grateful", "Live (A Little)", "Omens", "and Super Magick". "This Time" was written by Griffin in 2009, though it was originally released on the self-titled debut album of an Italian operatic pop trio, Il Volo. Better Than Ezra is an American alternative rock band based in New Orleans, Louisiana, and signed with Round Hill Music. The band formed in 1988 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and consists of Kevin Griffin (vocals and guitar), Tom Drummond (bass guitar), Michael Jerome (drums), and James Arthur Payne Jr. (guitar, keyboards). Ryan Hewitt is an American music producer, engineer and mixer known for his work with the Lumineers, Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Avett Brothers, the Chicks, Third Eye Blind, Jamie Cullum, John Frusciante and the Turnpike Troubadours. Chris Dugan (born May 11, 1973) is an American audio engineer, cinematographer, record producer, musician, and singer, best known as the drummer of the Effection and as an audio engineer for Green Day. In 2018, along with Green Day members Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt, guitarist Jason White, and tour manager Bill Schneider, he formed the Coverups, for which he plays drums. History Dugan began his musical pursuits as a drummer. Needing to be resourceful, he learned to do basic recordings for his high school bands. Michael Jerome Moore, known as Michael Jerome is an American rock musician and drummer. He is a former member of Pop Poppins (1989-1997), the Toadies (1990–91), Course of Empire (1994–1998), and James Hall's band Pleasure Club, which was formed in 2002. He was a member of the Saginaw, Texas band Pop Poppins, a metroplex cult follow. He played on Charlie Musselwhite's 2004 release ''Sanctuary'', and has also toured or recorded with Blind Boys of Alabama, John Cale, Anna Egge, Tom Freund and many others. Jerome is double-jointed and ambidextrous. Tom Melville Drummond (born June 30, 1969 Shreveport, Louisiana) is an American musician. He is currently the bassist and background vocalist for the band, Better Than Ezra. Drummond is one of the four original founding members who formed Better Than Ezra in 1988. He had graduated from Caddo Magnet High School and was attending Louisiana State University at the time. Drummond, along with lead vocalist Kevin Griffin, are the only two original members of Better Than Ezra currently active with the band.
