SuperStar Season 5
The fifth (and last) season of ''SuperStar'' was launched on Future TV on 24 February 2008. This year, many changes occurred, such as the fact that the Results shows would happen on Thursdays instead of Mondays, so it will allow the audience to have five days to vote for their favorite contestants. Egyptian singer and SuperStar alumni Wael Mansour would host the show with Miss Lebanon 2004 Majdala Khatar, replacing Egyptian anchorman Ayman Qaissouni. Also, the introduction of a new female judge, Jihane, who joined Elias Rahbani, Ziad Boutros and Abdallah El Qaoud. This year, 12 contestants (7 males and 5 females) would get into the final stage. On 24 July 2008, Lebanese contestant Elie Bitar won the contest against Saudi contestant Abdelmajeed Ibrahim. Even though running for five seasons, ''SuperStar'' was eclipsed by rival show ''Star Academy'' on LBC in the Middle East, in terms of popularity and ratings, after only its first season. Future TV
Future Television (, ''Televizyon al-Mustaqbal'') was a Lebanese free-to-air television station founded in 1993 by the Future Movement leader Rafic Hariri, a former Prime Minister of Lebanon. Future TV was also available via satellite in the Arab world, European Union, United States, Canada, and Australia, but is currently broadcast on a frequency of the lebanese satellite service provider Cablevision. Politically, the channel supported the views of the Future Movement. The channel also had a sister channel, Future News, which is remains defunct. Umm Kulthum (; 31 December 1898 – 3 February 1975) was an Egyptians, Egyptian singer and film actress active from the 1920s to the 1970s. She was given the honorific title (). Melhem Barakat
Melhem Barakat (; 15 August 1945 – 28 October 2016), also known as Melhim Barakat or Abou Majd, was a Lebanese singer, songwriter, and composer. Barakat was a renowned singer in Lebanon and the wider Arab world. He toured Australia, South America, Canada, and the United States. Early life Barakat was born on 15 August 1945, in Kfarshima, Lebanon. He inherited his affinity for music from his father, who was a carpenter and taught Melhem how to play the oud. In 1960, Barakat dropped out of school at the age of 15 and enrolled into the National Institute of Music without his father's knowledge. He studied music theory, Solfège and Eastern singing. Nouhad Wadie Haddad (, ; born November 20, 1934 or November 21, 1935), known as Fairuz (, ), is a Lebanese singer. She is widely considered an iconic vocalist and one of the most celebrated singers in the history of the Arab world.
