SuperM (EP)
''SuperM'' is the debut extended play (EP) by South Korean supergroup SuperM. It was released on October 4, 2019 by SM Entertainment, Capitol Records and Dreamus. The CD version of the EP has eight different versions: one individual edition for each member and a "united" version. The EP debuted at the top spot of the United States' Billboard 200, ''Billboard'' 200 albums chart, becoming the first Korean act to top the chart with their debut release. Background and release On August 7, 2019, Capitol Music Group chairman Steve Barnett and SM Entertainment founder Lee Soo-man announced SuperM's debut at Capitol Congress. A teaser revealed the members of the group, with each having performance, vocal, and rap abilities. On August 28, the instrumental of one of the album's songs, "I Can't Stand the Rain", was released. SuperM () was a South Korean Supergroup (music), supergroup formed in 2019 by SM Entertainment and Capitol Music Group. The group consisted of seven members from four SM Entertainment boy bands: Taemin from Shinee, Baekhyun and Kai (entertainer, born 1994), Kai from Exo, Taeyong and Mark (rapper), Mark from NCT 127, Ten (singer), Ten from WayV, and Lucas (rapper), Lucas, who is a former NCT (group), NCT and WayV member. The group debuted on October 4, 2019, with their SuperM (EP), self-titled EP, which entered the US Billboard 200, ''Billboard'' 200 at number one, making SuperM the first Asian artist in history to top the chart with a debut release. The Capitol Records Building, also known as the Capitol Records Tower, is a 13-story tower building in the Hollywood neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, United States. Designed by Louis Naidorf of Welton Becket Associates, it is one of the city's landmarks, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. LDN Noise (pronounced ''London Noise'') is a British songwriting and record production duo based in London, England. Consisting of songwriter Greg Bonnick and DJ Hayden Chapman, the duo has worked with artists such as Nathan Sykes, Nick Jonas, and Chris Brown since 2012, most notably having co-written the 2012's number-one UK hit " Turn Up the Music" for the latter artist. Bonnick and Chapman, however, are most known for their work with K-pop artists, most notably with soloists and idol groups under the management of SM Entertainment, such as f(x), Exo, Red Velvet and NCT.
