Samuli Pohjamo
Samuli Pohjamo (born 4 April 1950) is a Finnish Centre Party of Finland, Centre Party politician and journalist, born in Oulu. He has served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from 1999 to 2004, and again from 19 April 2007. In the spring of 1999, the Finnish Member of the European Parliament, MEP Sirkka-Liisa Anttila opted to resign three months before her term was up to accept a position in the Parliament of Finland. Pohjamo, having been second runner-up in the previous election (Olli Rehn, the first Centre Party runner-up, declined), became a member for the brief period until the next election, the following summer. In the 1999 European Parliament election in Finland, 1999 European Parliament elections, Pohjamo was re-elected with a 25,000 votes, most of them coming from his home region in Oulu. Timo Laaninen was the party secretary of the Centre Party in Finland from June 12, 2010 to 2016. Laaninen was the editor-in-chief of Suomenmaa party newspaper from January 2008 up to 2010. Before that he has been a political secretary (special adviser) in Esko Aho's cabinet to the minister of internal affairs, Mauri Pekkarinen, minister for foreign affairs Heikki Haavisto and prime minister Esko Aho. Finnish (endonym: or ) is a Uralic language of the Finnic branch, spoken by the majority of the population in Finland and by ethnic Finns outside of Finland. Otto Karhi
Otto Karhi (originally Lindgrén, 17 April 1876 – 7 June 1966) was the first Chairman of Centre Party, then the League of the Rural People of Finland from 1906 to 1908. He was a member of the Parliament of Finland from 1907 to 1908 and again from 1909 to 1913 from Oulu southern electoral district. He quit the Agrarian League in 1914 and stayed passive politically some years. Karhi was born and died in Oulu. In 1918 he was elected to the city council of Oulu as a representative of the Social Democratic Party of Finland and became re-elected until 1964. His main work after the entrepreneurial career was to be the managing director of Oulun Osuuskauppa, the Cooperative regional stores in Oulu region from 1916 to 1964.
