''Sunshine Rock'' is the 13th solo album from American rock musician Bob Mould, formerly frontman of the bands Hüsker Dü and Sugar. The album release was announced on October 24, 2018. The album was released on February 8, 2019, and debuted at number 192 on the US ''Billboard'' 200. A review in ''Dagger'' says ""I Fought" has all the rage and bluster that Husker Du ever had (same with the great "Sin King") while "Camp Sunshine" is, dare I say a flowery love song ''Sunshine Rock'' shows Bob and his unbeatable rhythm section at the top of their game." Robert Christgau wrote "this is the first time the solo Mould has come close to what he was once capable of, and that he's managed it this late should encourage us all." Bob Mould
Robert Arthur Mould (born October 16, 1960) is an American musician, principally known for his work as guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter for alternative rock bands Hüsker Dü in the 1980s and Sugar in the 1990s. Early years Born in Malone, New York, Mould lived in several places, including the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, where he attended Macalester College. There, he formed Hüsker Dü in the late 1970s with drummer/singer Grant Hart and bass guitarist Greg Norton. Mould and Hart were the principal songwriters for Hüsker Dü, with Hart's higher-pitched vocals and Mould's baritone taking the lead in alternate songs. Sugar (American Band)
Sugar was an American alternative rock band active in the early 1990s. Formed in 1992, they were led by the singer and guitarist Bob Mould (ex- Hüsker Dü), alongside bassist David Barbe (ex-Mercyland) and drummer Malcolm Travis (ex- Human Sexual Response). Career After frontman Bob Mould departed from Hüsker Dü, he released two solo ventures, '' Workbook'' and ''Black Sheets of Rain''; neither album was well received and Mould was released from his contract with Virgin Records America in 1991 as a result. Shortly after, Mould recorded a demo tape of over thirty songs and formed Sugar with David Barbe and Malcolm Travis. The band was named in an Athens, GA Waffle House Restaurant when Mould spotted a sugar packet on the table where he and the other two band members were sitting. Jonathan Patrick Wurster (born October 31, 1966) is an American drummer and comedy writer. As a musician, he is best known for his work with Superchunk, the Mountain Goats, and Bob Mould. He is also known for appearing on '' The Best Show'' with Tom Scharpling. Wurster has recorded and performed live with Jay Farrar, Ben Gibbard, Robert Pollard, Katy Perry, The New Pornographers, Rocket from the Crypt, Alejandro Escovedo, and R.E.M. Jason Narducy
Jason V. Narducy is an American musician from Evanston, Illinois, United States. After receiving his first guitar at the age of nine Narducy started his music career, playing guitar and writing songs for his punk rock band, Verboten. Verboten is credited as inspiring Dave Grohl to pursue music, and Narducy is featured in the Foo Fighters HBO documentary '' Sonic Highways''. After college, he formed an acoustic duo with cellist Alison Chesley called Jason & Alison. They released the full-length album ''Woodshed'' in 1994. Jason & Alison became a four-piece rock band called Verbow in 1996, adding drums and bass. "Send Me a Postcard" is a song written by Robbie van Leeuwen, and recorded by Shocking Blue in 1968. With lyrics in Swedish by Per Gessle, the song was recorded in 1980 by Gyllene Tider, as "Skicka ett vykort, älskling". Finnish version of the song "Kirjoita postikorttiin" was recorded by Muska as her debut single in 1971 and first hit song. A Turkish version of the song "Aşk Çiçeği" (Flower of Love) was released by the band '' Mavi Işıklar'' in 1971. "Send Me a Postcard" was covered by Loog on their 1995 album '' Meltdown House'', but was generally unknown in the US until Ladytron's Softcore Jukebox compilation was released in 2003. Hüsker Dü () was an American punk rock band formed in Saint Paul, Minnesota, in 1979. The band's continual members were guitarist/vocalist Bob Mould, bassist/vocalist Greg Norton, and drummer/vocalist Grant Hart. They first gained notability as a hardcore punk band, and later crossed over into alternative rock. Mould and Hart were the band's principal songwriters, with Hart's higher-pitched vocals and Mould's baritone taking the lead in alternating songs.
