''Sunmachine'' is the debut album by British electronic music trio Dario G, released on 8 June 1998 through the Warner Music Group, Warner label. According to the notes on Dario G's single "Sunchyme", the album was originally set to be titled ''Super Dario Land''. Background and recording After signing with Warner Bros Records, the trio were under pressure from the record label in order to record and release a debut album. Initially, the working title for their debut album was ''Super Dario Land''. Band member Scott Rosser said that "they got together a plan for one, to be called Super Dario Land, and for three or four weeks, we thought we'd go for it as well – we actually started work on it on the day after the commercial release of 'Sunchyme' went into the charts, in mid‑September." Dario G
Dario G were an English dance music group formed in Cheshire, England, consisting of three DJs and producers – Scott Rosser, Paul Spencer, and Stephen Spencer (no relation) – and vocalist Ingfrid Straumstøyl. The group rose to prominence in the late 1990s following the release of their debut single "Sunchyme", which reached number two in the United Kingdom, Scotland, Denmark and Switzerland. It reached number one on the US ''Billboard'' Bubbling Under Hot 100 charts, as well as reaching number one in Hungary and on the US Dance Club Songs chart. The London Community Gospel Choir is Britain's first renowned contemporary "performance touring, inspirational gospel choir band", fusing gospel with multi-genres of music, including pop, soul, jazz, R&B, and classical. It was founded in 1982 and has performed with people including Justin Timberlake, Madonna, Gorillaz, and Kylie Minogue. Steelpan
The steelpan (also known as a pan or steel drum) is a musical instrument originating in Trinidad and Tobago from Afro–Trinidadians and Tobagonians, Afro-Trinidadians. Steelpan musicians are called pannists. In 1992, the steelpan was declared Trinidad and Tobago’s national instrument by Prime Minister Patrick Manning. This helped turn the steelpan into a source of national pride and cultural identity, recognized both locally and internationally. In 2023, the United Nations General Assembly declared August 11 as World Steelpan Day. The following year, the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago officially recognised the steelpan as the country's national instrument. Siku (instrument)
Siku (, , also sicu, sicus, zampolla or ) is a traditional Andean panpipe. This instrument is the main instrument used in a musical genre known as sikuri. It is traditionally found all across the Andes but is more typically associated with music from the Kollasuyo, or Aymara speaking regions around Lake Titicaca. Historically because of the complicated mountain geography of the region, and due to other factors, in some regions each community would develop its own type of siku, with its own special tuning, shape and size. Additionally each community developed its own style of playing. Today the siku has been standardized to fit in with modern western forms of music and has been transported from its traditional roots. Steve Levine
Steve Levine is a British record producer, best known for his work on Culture Club's studio albums. He won a Brit Award for Producer of the Year in 1984. He has also composed film and TV scores. History Levine's career began as a trainee tape-op at CBS studios in 1975, soon progressed to in house engineer, working with many new wave and punk acts including the Clash, the Jags, XTC and many of CBS Records' pop acts, including Sailor. It was at CBS that Levine met Beach Boy Bruce Johnston, who would play an important role in the consolidation of his production career, culminating with Levine producing the 1985 album ''The Beach Boys''. From the early 1980s, with the worldwide success of Culture Club, Levine's reputation grew and, apart from the Beach Boys, he produced work for the Honeyz, John Howard, China Crisis, Motörhead, Ziggy Marley, Westworld and Gary Moore. "Memory of a Free Festival" is a song by the English singer-songwriter David Bowie. Originally recorded in September 1969 as a seven-minute opus for Bowie's David Bowie (1969 album), second self-titled album, it was reworked in March–April 1970 at the behest of Mercury Records, the label believing that the track had a better chance of success as a single than "The Prettiest Star", released earlier in the year. Bowie and Tony Visconti roughly split the track in half, re-recording it so both halves could function as individual songs. A more rock-oriented version than the earlier album cut, this rendition featured guitarist Mick Ronson. Biographer David Buckley described "Memory of a Free Festival" as "a sort of trippy retake of The Rolling Stones, the Stones' 'Sympathy for the Devil' but with a smiley lyric". The Dream Academy was a British Indie pop, alternative pop band consisting of lead vocalist and guitarist and primary songwriter Nick Laird-Clowes, woodwinds player and pianist Kate St John, and keyboardist Gilbert Gabriel. The band is most noted for their 1985 hit record, "Life in a Northern Town". History Laird-Clowes and Gabriel met each other in the late 1970s whilst the former was in a band called The Act. David Charles Hudson (born ) is an Australian musician, entertainer and artist. Hudson is a multi-instrumentalist and was taught to play traditional didgeridoo from an early age. He also plays guitar, kit drums, percussion. He plays traditional music, as well as more ambient music, country-folk, rock, and new age. Life and career David Charles Hudson was born in the early 1960s and is a descendant of the Ewamin- Western Yalanji peoples of the western Far North Queensland region. He explained "I grew up in a household with uncles and aunts who painted and carved.
