Sundbyfoss is a village in Holmestrand Municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. The village is located along the lake Hillestadvannet, about south of the village of Hof. The village of Gullhaug lies about to the southeast and the town of Holmestrand lies about to the southeast. The village of Hvittingfoss in Kongsberg Municipality lies about to the west. is a town in Holmestrand Municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. The town is the administrative centre of the municipality. It is located along the shore of the Ytre Oslofjord, about northwest of the town of Horten and about south of the village of Sande i Vestfold. The large town of Drammen lies about to the north. Holmestrand–Vittingfoss Line
The Holmestrand–Hvittingfoss Line () or HVB is an abandoned railway between Holmestrand to Hvittingfoss in Norway. It consisted of two sections: a line from Holmestrand (town), Holmestrand to Hillestad, Vestfold, Hillestad and a section from Hof, Vestfold, Hof to Hvittingfoss. The two parts were connected by a section of the Tønsberg–Eidsfoss Line. At Holmestrand Station, the line connected to the Vestfold Line of the Norwegian State Railways. HVB was opened on 30 September 1902 and closed on 1 June 1938. The main purpose of the line was the transport of wood pulp at Hvittingfoss, although it was also used for passenger transport until 1931. Hillestad Church
Hillestad Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Holmestrand Municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. It is located at Hillestad, about east of the village of Sundbyfoss. It is one of the churches for the Botne parish which is part of the Nord-Jarlsberg prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Tunsberg. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1724 using plans drawn up by unknown architect. The church seats about 140 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1390, but the church was not built that year. The first church at Hillestad was likely a wooden stave church that was possibly built during the 13th-century. Hvittingfoss
Hvittingfoss is a village in the municipality of Kongsberg in Buskerud, Norway. Hvittingfoss has traditionally been associated with the manufacture of pulp, paper and paper products. History Prior to the municipal merger in 1964, Hvittingfoss was in Ytre Sandsvær. Hvittingfoss borders Lardal and Hof. Hvittingfoss is located about 30 kilometers from Kongsberg. The river Numedalslågen runs through the village. The village population (2005) is 1,016. Industrial development was driven by the waterfalls of Hvittingfoss as far back as the 17th century.
