Pat Summitt
Patricia Susan Summitt (; June 14, 1952 – June 28, 2016) was an American women's college basketball head coach who accrued 1,098 career wins, the most in college basketball history at the time of her retirement. She served as the head coach of the University of Tennessee Lady Vols basketball team from 1974 to 2012. Summitt won a silver medal at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal as a member of the United States women's national basketball team. She returned to the Olympics in 1984 as a head coach, guiding the U.S. women's basketball team to a gold medal. Summitt won eight NCAA Division I basketball championships. In 38 years as coach of the Tennessee Lady Volunteers, she never missed the NCAA Tournament nor did she ever have a losing season. Summitt retired from coaching at age 59 following a diagnosis of early-onset Alzheimer's disease. Ross Tyler Summitt (born September 21, 1990) is a former American college basketball player and coach. Early years Summitt was born September 21, 1990 to R. B. Summitt, II and Pat Head Summitt. Pat Summitt was a former head coach of the University of Tennessee women's basketball team. Throughout his childhood, Summitt was often photographed with his mother at UT women’s basketball games and championships. In 2006, Summitt graduated cum laude from high school at the Webb School of Knoxville where he was a three-year starter in basketball. In his senior year, Summitt earned Scholar-Athlete of the Year and the Spartan Award as a point guard. He played basketball at the University of Tennessee as a freshman and sophomore. He was a 6'1", 180 lb guard. Coaching career Marquette University Summitt served as scouting coordinator and offensive coach for Marquette University from 2012 to 2014.
