Summertime Blues (film)
Director Yaky Yosha's ''Summertime Blues'' (1984) is a youth drama about the last summer before the army, the last summer altogether. Although somewhat similar in content to the Lemon Popsicle (Eskimo Limon) series, with a soundtrack full of rock and roll hits and a group of teens pursuing sex, it is a different film than the eighth Lemon Popsicle film four years later, which unfortunately was given the same sub-title '' Lemon Popsicle VIII - Summertime Blues''. Plot It is the last summer before the army, an early 1980s Tel-Aviv summer, prior to the 1982 Lebanon War. Four friends are walking on the wild side before life starts walking over them. They have a Rock'n'Roll band and so, they're trying to add some sex and drugs and devour the whole enchilada. It will take them a hot summer to realize how young and naive they still are, how what really turns them on is first love, first heartache and everything in between. Yaky Yosha
Yaky Yosha () is a film director from Israel, known for realism. Yosha’s films have often stirred social controversy in his homeland and outside of it. About his work Yosha once said: "Art only as Aesthetics is meaningless. As an artist, I am trying to grasp the meaning of life. I ask questions related to myself and to the country in which I was born. I am trying to make movies and thus to find the answers. God knows if I’ll ever find them…" His films were shown at Cannes, IDFA, Locarno and other international film festivals. Biography Yaky Yosha was born in Tel Aviv in 1951. Yuval Banay
Yuval Banay (; born June 9, 1962) is an Israeli musician, best known as the lead singer of the influential Israeli pop rock band Mashina. Career Banay served in the Artillery Corps of the Israel Defense Forces during the 1982 Lebanon War. While in the military, he met guitarist Shlomi Braha, with whom he formed a band. The two went in different directions after their military service ended, with Banay forming the band ''Shlom Ha-Tzibur'' ("Public Safety"). In 1984, he and Braha decided to form a new band, which they called Mashina. They released their debut album in 1985. Over the next decade, Mashina released several successful albums. In May 1995 the group disbanded after a series of four farewell shows. Yaakov "Yankele" Rotblit (Hebrew: יעקב רוֹטְבְּלִיט; born in 1945) is an Israeli songwriter, singer, composer, and journalist best known for writing the lyrics for the Shir LaShalom. Early life Rotblit was born in Haifa in 1945. He was a member of Agudat Yordei Yam Zebulon and Hashomer Hatzair. After finishing his secondary education in Hugim high school, he enlisted to Nahal with a Hashomer Hatzair group formed for the completion of Kibbutz Metzer. After his discharge from the IDF he attended the Hebrew University of Jerusalem where he studied history and international relations. While he was in university, the Six-Day War started and he left his studies to fight as a platoon leader in the 63rd battalion of the Jerusalem Brigade. During the battle over Abu Tor, Rotblit was severely wounded in his hand, and lost a leg.
