Sumardi Hajalan
Sumardi Hajalan (born 12 January 1985 in Tawau, Sabah) is a former Malaysian football (soccer), footballer. Career Club At club level, Sumardi spent most of his career at Sabah where he made his debut against Penang during the second leg of 2004 Malaysia FA Cup. He also played for Johor FC, Negeri Sembilan, and Perlis. He signed with Perak in 2015 but only made an appearances in the 2015 Malaysia Cup against ATM FA, ATM. International At international level, Sumardi made his first appearances with Malaysia national under 23 team at the 2005 AFF U-23 Youth Championship under Bertalan Bisckei. He became a regular with the Malaysia U-23 national team in 2007 under B. Sathianathan. He played in the 2007 Merdeka Tournament, in which he started as the first choice left back for the entire tournament as Malaysia won the trophy after 14 years. Tawau
Tawau (, Jawi: , ), formerly known as Tawao, is the capital of the Tawau District in Sabah, Malaysia. It is the third-largest city in Sabah, after Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan. The association football tournament at the 2007 Southeast Asian Games was held from 1 to 14 December in Nakhon Ratchasima Province of Thailand. The men's tournament is played by U-23 (under 23 years old) national teams, while the women's tournament has no age limit. Merdeka Tournament or Pestabola Merdeka is a friendly football tournament held in Malaysia to commemorate the Independence Day. The competition bears the Malay word for independence. As of 2022, it has been held 40 times, and decreasingly in recent decades. Matches in Merdeka tournament considered International "A" matches (Friendly match) by FIFA. Its final has been mainly held at Stadium Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur. An unusual feature is it has four times seen a draw result, twice with the home nation and teams from South Korea, and twice with the latter and variously Taiwan and Myanmar (then predominantly called Burma).
