Sukhyi Torets
The Sukhyi Torets () is a river in eastern Ukraine. It is a tributary of the Seversky Donets. Populated places The hamlet of Andriivka is located on the Sukhyi Torets. History On 20 June 2014, during the early part of the war in Donbas, OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine monitors met with the self-proclaimed mayor of Sloviansk, Volodymyr Pavlenko, who said that sewage systems in Sloviansk had collapsed, resulting in the release of least 10,000 litres of untreated sewage into the river. He called this an "environmental catastrophe", and said that it had the potential to affect both Russia and Ukraine. Seversky Donets
The Seversky Donets () or Siverskyi Donets (), usually simply called the Donets, is a river on the south of the East European Plain. It originates in the Central Russian Upland, north of Belgorod, flows south-east through Ukraine (Kharkiv, Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts) and then again through Russia (Rostov Oblast) to join the river Don, about from the Sea of Azov. The Donets is the fourth-longest river in Ukraine, and the largest in eastern Ukraine, where it is an important source of fresh water. Andriivka (rural-type Settlement), Kramatorsk Raion, Donetsk Oblast
Sukhanivka ( uk, Суханівка), previously known as Andriivka ( uk, Андріївка, link=no) between 1938 and 2024, is a rural settlement (a selyshche) in Kramatorsk Raion, Donetsk Oblast, eastern Ukraine. It is subordinate to Sloviansk urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. It has a population of Geography Sukhanivka is located on the Sukhyi Torets river. It is located to the south of Sloviansk. History Until 1861, the land on which modern Sukhanivka is located belonged to landholders named Sukhanov, Yefanov, and Mazan. Small hamlets grew up on the territory, several named after the men, including Bykivka, Yefanivka, Mazanivka, Sukhanivka and Khomychivka. In 1869, the Kursk–Kharkiv–Azov railway was laid through these lands. In 1921 or 1922, a collective farm was organized at Sukhanivka. OSCE Special Monitoring Mission To Ukraine
The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine was an international civilian observer mission of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) mandated to contribute to reducing tensions and to help foster peace in Ukraine.
