Seversky Donets
The Seversky Donets () or Siverskyi Donets (), usually simply called the Donets (), is a river on the south of the East European Plain. It originates in the Central Russian Upland, north of Belgorod, flows south-east through Ukraine (Kharkiv, Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts) and then again through Russia (Rostov Oblast) to join the river Don, about from the Sea of Azov. The Donets is the fourth-longest river in Ukraine, and the largest in eastern Ukraine, where it is an important source of fresh water. Andriivka (rural-type Settlement), Kramatorsk Raion, Donetsk Oblast
Sukhanivka (), previously known as Andriivka () between 1938 and 2024, is a rural settlement (a selyshche) in Kramatorsk Raion, Donetsk Oblast, eastern Ukraine. It is subordinate to Sloviansk urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. It has a population of Geography Sukhanivka is located on the Sukhyi Torets river. It is located to the south of Sloviansk. History Until 1861, the land on which modern Sukhanivka is located belonged to landholders named Sukhanov, Yefanov, and Mazan. Small hamlets grew up on the territory, several named after the men, including Bykivka, Yefanivka, Mazanivka, Sukhanivka and Khomychivka. In 1869, the Kursk–Kharkiv–Azov railway was laid through these lands. In 1921 or 1922, a collective farm was organized at Sukhanivka. The head of the farm was one Andrii Petrunchyk, after whom the farm was named. Later that year, Petrunchyk was allegedly murdered by "bandits", according to Soviet sources. ''The History of Cities and Villages of the Ukrainian SSR'' () is a Ukrainian encyclopedia, published in 26 volumes. It provides knowledge about the history of all populated places in Ukraine. It was approved by the Communist Party of Ukraine in 1962 and published for the first time the very same year. The chief editor was the noted scholar and historian Petro Tronko. This is the first thorough historical work of its kind. Each volume covered the history of all populated places in different regions of Ukraine, and at that time they numbered almost 40,000. The encyclopedia played an important role in collecting materials for writing essays about the villages. OSCE Special Monitoring Mission To Ukraine
The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine was an international civilian observer mission of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) mandated to contribute to reducing tensions and to help foster peace in Ukraine. Sloviansk
Sloviansk is a city in Donetsk Oblast, northern part of the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine. The city was known as ''Tor'' until 1784. While it did not actually belong to the raion itself, Sloviansk served as the administrative center of the Sloviansk Raion (district) until its abolition on 18 July 2020. Sloviansk was one of the focal points in the early stages of the war in Donbas, in 2014, as it was one of the first cities to be seized and controlled by Russian-backed rebels (separatists), in mid-April 2014.
