Sukhato A. Sema
Sukhato A. Sema (born 1958) is an Indian politician from Nagaland. He is an MLA from Pughoboto Assembly constituency, which is reserved for Scheduled Tribes, in Zunheboto District. He won the 2023 Nagaland Legislative Assembly election, representing the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas). Early life and education Sema is from Pughoboto, Zunheboto District, Nagaland. He is the son of Akhavi Sema. He is a doctor. He passed M.D. in 1984 with a gold medal at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. Career Sema won from Pughoboto Assembly constituency representing the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) in the 2023 Nagaland Legislative Assembly election. He polled 7,808 votes and defeated his nearest rival, Y. Vikheho Swu of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party, by a margin of 850 votes. The Nagaland Legislative Assembly is the unicameral legislature of the Indian state of Nagaland. Nagaland became a state of India on 1 December 1963 and after election in January 1964, the first Nagaland Legislative Assembly was formed on 11 February 1964. The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) is a regional political party that currently governs the Indian state of Nagaland. Chingwang Konyak is the president of NDPP. The symbol of the party is a globe. The NDPP was formed by Naga People's Front rebels who supported former Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio, and split to form the Democratic Progressive Party.
