''Suite Três Rios'' is a jazz/world music album by Dan Costa. Recorded in Rio de Janeiro, the album features legendary Brazilian artists such as Jaques Morelenbaum, Marcos Suzano and Leila Pinheiro, and was mixed by Jan Erik Kongshaug. It was considered one of the best of 2016 by DownBeat. Reception "Costa's melodic sensibility shines throughout", according to DownBeat critic Carlo Wolff, who considered the album "finely crafted" and "an entrancing homage to Brazil". All About Jazz critic Paul Naser says: "Brazilian jazz, like its American counterpart, has fondly remembered its roots as it unabashedly moves forward". Daniel Greco Costa (born 7 April 1989) is a British-Italian-Portuguese jazz/world music pianist and composer known for his original work and for his collaborations with artists such as Randy Brecker, Ron Carter, John Patitucci, Mike Stern, Hermeto Pascoal, Dave Liebman, Ivan Lins, Bob Mintzer, Seamus Blake, Dave Douglas, Romero Lubambo, Leila Pinheiro, Marcos Suzano, Jaques Morelenbaum and Roberto Menescal. His award-winning music has been featured by publications such as ''Rolling Stone'' and ''DownBeat,'' which considered his music "entrancing." Costa has worked as an educator and writer as well. Jazz
Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Jaques Morelenbaum
Jaques Morelenbaum (() born 18 May 1954) is a Brazilian instrumentalist, arranger, conductor, composer and music producer. Morelenbaum was born in Rio de Janeiro, the son of conductor Henrique Morelenbaum and piano teacher Sarah Morelenbaum. His siblings are Lucia Morelenbaum, clarinetist in the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra, and Eduardo Morelenbaum, conductor, arranger and instrumentalist. He is married to singer Paula Morelenbaum. He started his musical career as part of the group A Barca do Sol, and participated in the Nova Banda that performed live with Antonio Carlos Jobim and in recordings that led to a Grammy win for the CD ''Antonio Brasileiro''. As a cellist, he studied music in Brazil and later attended the New England Conservatory of Music. Marcos Suzano (born August 14, 1963) is a Brazilian percussionist known for playing with Brazilian and international musicians, such as Gilberto Gil, Nando Reis, and Titãs. Jan Erik Kongshaug (4 July 1944 – 5 November 2019) was a Norwegian sound engineer, jazz guitarist, and composer. Career Kongshaug was born in Trondheim, the son of guitarist John Kongshaug. Kongshaug gained his examen artium in 1963, and trained in electronics at the Trondheim Technical School in 1967. Then he worked for the Arne Bendiksen Studio (1967–1974) and Talent Studio (1974–79) in Oslo, and undertook some jobs in New York. In 1984, he founded his own recording studio, Rainbow Studio in Oslo and evolved into being one of the grand masters of Sound engineering.
