Sudip Chatterjee (cricketer)
Sudip Dipen Chatterjee (born 11 November 1991) is an Indian cricketer who plays for Tripura cricket team. He is a left-handed batsman and occasional leg break googly bowler. Chatterjee has been the mainstay of the Bengal batting line up since making his debut. A prolific scorer in the domestic circuit in all formats, Chatterjee was rewarded with an India A call up for the tour of South Africa 2017. Chatterjee hails from a middle-class family in Kolkata and is the son of a garment retailer. His wife's name is Papiya Chatterjee. In July 2018, he was named in the squad for India Green for the 2018–19 Duleep Trophy. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). 2018–19 Duleep Trophy
The 2018–19 Duleep Trophy was the 57th season of the Duleep Trophy, a first-class cricket tournament in India, which took place in August and September 2018. India Red were the defending champions. All of the matches took place at the NPR College Ground in Dindigul. The BCCI's technical committee structured the tournament to have four teams from four Ranji Trophy Groups, similar to the 2002–03 Duleep Trophy, but on the day of team selections, the format of the previous season was retained. All three round-robin matches finished as draws. The first match, India Red took three points, as a result of a first-innings lead, with India Green getting one point. The second match, India Red had a first-innings lead over India Blue, therefore gaining three points, and advancing to the final. Leg Break
Leg spin is a type of spin bowling in cricket. A leg spinner bowls right-arm with a wrist spin action. The leg spinner's normal delivery causes the ball to spin from right to left (from the bowler's perspective) when the ball bounces on the pitch. For a right-handed batsman, that is away from the leg side, and this is where it gets the name leg break. Leg spinners bowl mostly leg breaks, varying them by adjusting the line and length, and amount of side spin versus topspin of the deliveries. Leg spinners also typically use variations of flight by sometimes looping the ball in the air, allowing any cross-breeze and the aerodynamic effects of the spinning ball to cause the ball to dip and drift before bouncing and spinning or "turning", sharply. Twenty20 (T20) is a shortened game format of cricket. At the professional level, it was introduced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2003 for the county cricket, inter-county competition. In a Twenty20 game, the two teams have a single innings each, which is restricted to a maximum of 20 over (cricket), overs. Together with first-class cricket, first-class and List A cricket, Twenty20 is one of the three current forms of cricket recognised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as being at the highest international or domestic level. A typical Twenty20 game is completed in about two and a half hours, with each innings lasting around 70 minutes and an official 10-minute break between the innings. First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but it was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs. At a meeting of the Imperial Cricket Conference (ICC) in 1947, it was formally defined on a global basis.
