Sudeshna Swayamprabha is a Bangladeshi dancer. She dances and choreographs classical dances such as Manipuri, Bharatnatyam and Kathak. She learnt dance from Amala Shankar and her mother Sharmila Banerjee Sharmila Banerjee is a classical, folk and creative dancer, and choreographer from Bangladesh. . Education Banerjee is a graduate from the University of Dhaka in Management Studies. She graduated from the Visva-Bharati University at Shantiniketan .... Career She participated in the 2003 Kalidas Festival in India, where she performed in “Chitrangada”. She has also won first place in a dance competition on BTV, titled “Tarana”. She has danced internationally in countries like Dubai, Norway and Sri Lanka. Teaching She has formed her own dance academy called ''Nritya Nandan'' where she teaches dance. Kathak
Kathak ( hi, कथक; ur, کتھک) is one of the eight major forms of Classical Indian dance, Indian classical dance. It is the classical dance from of Uttar Pradesh. The origin of Kathak is traditionally attributed to the traveling bards in ancient northern India known as Kathakars or storytellers. The term Kathak is derived from the Vedic Sanskrit word which means "story", and ''Kathakar'' which means "the one who tells a story", or "to do with stories". Wandering Kathakars communicated stories from the great epics and ancient mythology through dance, songs and music. Kathak dancers tell various stories through their hand movements and extensive footwork, their body movements and flexibility but most importantly through their facial expressions. Amala Shankar
Amala Shankar (''née'' Nandy, 27 June 1919 – 24 July 2020) was an Indian danseuse. She was the wife of dancer and choreographer Uday Shankar and mother of musician Ananda Shankar and dancer Mamata Shankar (later she became an actress) and sister-in-law of musician and composer Ravi Shankar. Amala Shankar acted in the film Kalpana written, co-produced and directed by husband Uday Shankar. She died on Friday, 24 July 2020, in West Bengal's Kolkata, India aged 101. Biography Amala Shankar was born as Amala Nandy on 27 June 1919 in Batajor Village of Magura District. Her father Akhoy Kumar Nandy wanted his children to be interested in nature and villages. Sharmila Banerjee is a classical, folk and creative dancer, and choreographer from Bangladesh. . Education Banerjee is a graduate from the University of Dhaka in Management Studies. She graduated from the Visva-Bharati University at Shantiniketan with a Bachelor of Music degree in Dance under ICCR Scholarship. In Shantiniketan, she received training in the Kathakali and Manipuri dance styles. Career Banerji teaches as the head of the dance department at Chhayanaut, and runs her own private institution of dance named Nritya Nandan.
