Sudama Prasad
Sudama Prasad is an Indian politician and member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. He was elected as the representative of the Tarari constituency in 2015. Prasad is a member of principal state committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation. Political career Prasad was active in the Bhojpur district of Bihar from 1997 onwards, belonging to the category of Other Backward Class (OBC). He later became a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation and was elected to its state committee. He was also accused in the murder case of an upper caste landlord which went to the Supreme Court of India. The court, however, acquitted him, ruling that he was victimised by the accusation and that the witnesses had given false testimonies to the court. Bihar Legislative Assembly
The Bihar Legislative Assembly, also known as the Bihar Vidhan Sabha, is the lower house of the Bihar Legislature where the first elections were held in 1952. The total strength of membership in the Assembly was 331, including one nominated member. Dr.Shri Krishna Singh became the first Leader of the House and the first Chief Minister, Dr. Anugrah Narayan Singh was elected as the first Deputy Leader of the Assembly and became state's first Deputy Chief Minister. It was reduced to 318 during the second General Elections. In 1977, the total number of elected members of the Bihar Legislative Assembly was further raised from 318 to 325. Nitish Kumar (born 1 March 1951) is an Indian politician, who is serving as Chief Minister of Bihar since 22 February 2015, having previous held the office from 2005 to 2014 and for a short period in 2000. The leader of the Janata Dal (United), previously he has also served as a Union Minister as the Samata Party member. 2019 Bihar Floods
The 2019 Bihar floods affected 13 districts of North Bihar, India, causing 130 deaths by the end of July. 1269 panchayats (settlement councils) under 92 blocks of 13 districts of Northern Bihar were severely affected in the flood. Around 88.46 lakhs (8.846 million) people were affected. 2016 Una Flogging Incident
In July 2016, seven members of a Dalit family were assaulted by a group of people in pretext of cow protection in Una in Gujarat, India. The video of the incident was circulated on the social media resulting in statewide protests in following months. Forty-three people including four Gujarat police officers were arrested and the case is under trial since August 2018. Background Una incident On 11 July 2016, the seven members of a Dalit family were skinning the carcasses of a dead cow in Mota Samadhiyala village near Una in Gir Somnath district of Gujarat state of India.
