Sud-Ouest Region (Burkina Faso)
Sud-Ouest (, "Southwest") is one of Burkina Faso's 13 administrative Regions of Burkina Faso, regions. It was created on July 2, 2001 and had a population of 874,030 in 2019. It covers an area of 16,153 km2. The region's capital is Gaoua. Four Provinces of Burkina Faso, provinces make up the region—Bougouriba, Ioba, Noumbiel, and Poni Province, Poni. As of 2019, the population of the region was 874,030 with 51.7% females. The population in the region was 4.26% of the total population of the country. The child mortality rate was 98, infant mortality rate was 107 and the mortality of children under five was 195. As of 2007, the literacy rate in the region was 18.1%, compared to a national average of 28.3%. The coverage of cereal need compared to the total production of the region was 156%. The Southwest Region or South-West Region () is a region with special status in Cameroon. Its capital is Buea. , its population was 1,553,320. Along with the Northwest Region, it is one of the two Anglophone (English-speaking) regions of Cameroon. Various Ambazonian nationalist and separatist factions regard the South-West region as being distinct as a polity from Cameroon. History In 1884, the region was colonized by Germany under the Protectorate regime until 1916 when it became a condominium administered jointly by the United Kingdom and France. ''Sud Ouest'' (; ) is a daily French newspaper, the second largest regional daily in France in terms of circulation. It was created in Bordeaux, on August 29, 1944, by Jacques Lemoine, as a successor to ''La Petite Gironde''. In 1949, the Sunday edition, ''Sud Ouest Dimanche'' was launched. ''Sud Ouest'' covers the Gironde, the Charente, the Charente-Maritime, the Dordogne, the Lot et Garonne, the Landes and the Pyrénées Atlantiques départements. It is owned by the Groupe Sud Ouest, which was directed by Jacques Lemoine from 1944 to 1968, and by his son Jean-François Lemoine from 1968 to 2001. SNCASO (abbreviated from ''Société nationale des constructions aéronautiques du Sud-Ouest'' ), or commonly ''Sud-Ouest'', was a French aircraft manufacturer. Created during 1936 as one of seven nationalised aeronautical manufacturing companies, SNCASO became a key French aircraft manufacturer following the end of the Second World War.
