Gorgi Sobhi
Gorgi Sobhi (1884–1964) was an Egyptian Professor of General Medicine, Professor of the History of Medicine and Professor of Egyptology. Life Sobhi was born in Mimon of Beni Suef, Egypt to a Coptic family. His mother died one week after he was born. Sobhi lived with his father, who was a manager in an arsenal factory. Dr. Harper, the British manager of Harmal Hospital in Cairo, fostered Sobhi and the family brought him up as a twin brother to their own son who was almost of the same age. Sobhi lived with the Harpers till the age of 9. Being brought up in an English family, he spoke fluent English. Sobhi was fluent in seven languages: English, French, Italian, Arabic, Greek, Latin and Coptic. He could also read hieroglyphics. Mustafa Subhi
Mustafa Suphi or Mustafa Subhi (1883 – 28 January 1921) was a Turkish revolutionary and communist during the period of dissolution of the Ottoman Empire. Early life Suphi was born in 1883 in Giresun Province, in the Ottoman Empire, now located in Turkey. He was educated in Jerusalem, Damascus and Erzurum before he attended Galatasaray High School. He studied political science in Paris, where he was also a correspondent of the Turkish newspaper '' Tanin''. He returned to Turkey in 1910, where he edited the newspaper ''Ifham''. He also gave lectures on law and economics. In 1913 he was accused of involvement in the assassination of Mahmud Şevket Pasha and sentenced to fifteen years of exile in Sinop. Mohsen Subhi
Mohsen Subhi (, or Mohsen Subhi Khalil Abd al-Hamid Ataya) (October 4, 1963 – August 2, 2009) was a Palestinian composer of classical Arabic music and an arranger of modern Palestinian music and folk song. A master oud player and percussionist, Subhi was born in Ramallah, Palestine, where he established himself as a young musician, composer, performer and teacher. He moved to Boston, Massachusetts, in 1997 and continued living and working in Palestine, the United States (Boston and San Francisco) and Jordan. Mohsen composed, arranged, (re)interpreted and performed music for television, plays, films and live audiences. After receiving a grant to record his second classical Arabic music (instrumental) CD, Subhi (also known as Abu Kinaan) died as a result of an accident on August 2, 2009, in Ramallah.
