Suad Amiry
Suad Amiry () (born 1951) is a Palestinian author and architect living in Ramallah. Education Her parents moved from Palestine to Amman, Jordan. She was brought up there and went to Lebanon's capital of Beirut to study architecture. She studied architecture at the American University of Beirut, the University of Michigan, and the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. Career Amiry was a member of the staff at Birzeit University until 1991,http://www.birzeit.edu/anouncements/news-d?news_id=189332 when she left to lead the Riwaq Centre for Architectural Conservation. Founded in 1991, the center was the first of its kind to work on the rehabilitation and protection of architectural heritage in Palestine. West Bank
The West Bank is located on the western bank of the Jordan River and is the larger of the two Palestinian territories (the other being the Gaza Strip) that make up the State of Palestine. Andrew Ross (sociologist)
Andrew Ross (born 1956), a Scottish-born social activist and analyst, is Professor of Social and Cultural Analysis at New York University (NYU). He has authored and edited numerous books, and written for ''The New York Times'', ''The Guardian'', ''The Nation'', ''Newsweek'', and Al Jazeera. Much of his writing focuses on labor, the urban environment, and the organisation of work, from the Western world of business and high-technology to conditions of offshore labour in the Global South. Making use of social theory as well as ethnography, his writing questions the human and environmental cost of economic growth. ''Woman's Hour'' is a radio magazine programme broadcast in the United Kingdom on the BBC Light Programme, BBC Radio 2, and later BBC Radio 4. It has been on the air since 1946. Vera Tamari (; born 1945) is a Palestinian visual artist, art historian, curator and educator. She is known for artwork in ceramics, sculpture, painting, and installation art. Tamari taught at Birzeit University for many years. She founded the Birzeit Museum of Ethnography and Art. Tamari lives in Ramallah, West Bank. Renowned for her multidisciplinary practice, Tamari has significantly contributed to the development of contemporary Palestinian art through her innovative use of materials and commitment to cultural preservation. Salim Tamari
Salim Tamari (; born 1945), is a Palestinian sociologist who is the director of the Institute of Palestine Studies and an adjunct professor at the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies at Georgetown University. Rashid Khalidi, the Edward Said Professor of Modern Arab Studies at Columbia University, has called Tamari "the preeminent Palestinian historical sociologist."
