Stéphane Yvars (born 1970) is a Canadian former competitive figure skater Figure skating is a sport in which individuals, pairs, or groups perform on figure skates on ice. He is the 1997 Czech Skate champion and a three-time (1995–97) Quebec champion. He trained at CPA Boucherville and at the Mariposa School of Skating, where he was coached by Doug Leigh. He retired from competition due to a knee injury. As of 2015, Yvars is the head coach at Boucherville Centre Elite. His brothers, Bruno and Thierry, also competed in figure skating. The Canadian National Skating Championships () are an annual figure skating competition organized by Skate Canada to crown the List of national championships in figure skating, national champions of Canada. While the first official Canadian Championships were held in 1914, unofficial championships had been hosted by the Minto Skating Club in Ottawa since 1905. They have been interrupted only twice since 1920. The event was called the Canadian Figure Skating Championships () prior to 2023, when synchronized skating, which had previously held Canadian Synchronized Skating Championships, separate championships, was folded into the competition along with the other figure skating disciplines. The St. Ivel International was an annual international figure skating competition at the Richmond Ice Rink in England. Sponsored by the National Ice Skating Association, it included competitions in men's singles, ladies' singles, pairs, and ice dancing. In most years it was held in late September or early October. History The competition was first held in 1978 under the name Rotary Watches International and was renamed in 1980 when it became sponsored by the St. Ivel dairy product brand. In 1988, the event was renamed to (or replaced by) Skate Electric, which in some years was held in both spring and fall versions.
