Stuttgart Airport
Stuttgart Airport () formerly is an international airport serving Stuttgart, the capital of the German state of Baden-Württemberg. It is christened in honor of Stuttgart's former mayor, Manfred Rommel, son of Erwin Rommel, and is the sixth busiest airport in Germany with 11,832,634 passengers having passed through its doors in 2018. The facility covers approximately 400 hectares (1,000 acres), of which 190 hectares are green space. The airport is operated by Flughafen Stuttgart GmbH (FSG). It goes back to Luftverkehr Württemberg AG, which was founded in 1924 and initially operated Böblingen Airport. Since 2008, 65% of the operating company is owned by the state of Baden-Württemberg and 35% by the city of Stuttgart. It is eight miles north of Stuttgart, which owns the airport and is the county seat of Arkansas County's northern district. Baden-Württemberg State Police is the state police force of the German state of Baden-Württemberg. It numbers approximately 35,000 police officers and civilian employees. The four regional police authorities (called ''Landespolizeidirektionen'' in BW) are headquartered in Karlsruhe, Stuttgart, Freiburg and Tübingen. There is also a separate police authority for the city of Stuttgart. 11th Aviation Group (United States)
The 11th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade is a Combat Aviation Brigade in the United States Army Reserve. The unit's lineage can be traced to the prior lineage and insignia of the 11th Aviation Group which was last headquartered in Illesheim, Germany in 2005. It is one of two aviation brigades of Army Reserve Aviation Command. The brigade consists of a headquarters company, two Black Hawk assault battalions, and one fixed wing battalion. Nellingen Kaserne
Nellingen Kaserne was a U.S. Army airfield and barracks near Stuttgart in the town of Ostfildern in Germany. History The site was selected in the 1930s as the site for a new airport for Stuttgart but was instead developed as a military airfield named Fliegerhorst Nellingen in 1938. Following World War II the U.S. used Nellingen to host various units until after the Cold War and Gulf War. The Theater Military Police School that trained US Constabulary soldiers during the occupation of Germany was located at Nellingen. Most of the units stationed at Nellingen from the 1950s onward were assigned to the VII Corps (US) headquartered nearby at Kelley Barracks, also serving as an Army Medical Helicopter airfield, and was part of the Stuttgart Military Community. Grumman OV-1 Mohawk
The Grumman OV-1 Mohawk is American armed military observation and attack aircraft that was designed for battlefield surveillance and light strike capabilities. It features a twin turboprop configuration, and carries two crew members in side-by-side seating. The aircraft was intended to operate from short, unimproved runways in support of the United States Army maneuver forces.
