Stubensee
The back and forward lakes Stubensee (lit. ''Lake Stuben'' in German; it, Lago della StuaNot to be confused with a lake of the same name (or sometimes spelled as ''Lago di Stua'') located in Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park.) are located 2,423 m above sea level in the back part of the Pflersch valley, which is a left side valley of the Eisacktal. Similar to the Grünsee, one has to go by car until Ochsenalm (an alpine pasture) and then travel northwards high up route 6 until the lakes are reached after about four kilometers. At the forward lake, there is a snack station called Magdeburger Hütte (German for ''Magdeburg alpine refuge''), which is named after the city in Germany. Both lakes have a very good water quality (A grade). As typical mountain lakes, the water remains refreshingly chilly even on hot summer days at max. 12 °C. Eisack Valley ( it, Valle Isarco ; german: Eisacktal) is a district ( it, comprensorio; german: Bezirksgemeinschaft) in South Tyrol, Italy. It comprises the middle part of the valley of the Eisack, from Franzensfeste in the north to Waidbruck in the south. Overview The valley of the Eisack river stretches from Brenner Pass southwards down to its confluence with the Adige near Bolzano. The upper valley north of Franzensfeste is known as Wipptal, while the lower parts belong to the Salten-Schlern administrative district. Grünsee (Pflersch)
The Grünsee ( it, Lago Verde) lies in the most western part of the Pflersch Valley (left side valley of the Eisack river below Brenner) 1,680 metres above sea level. To get to the lake, one has to go by car until ''Ochsen alpine hut'' and then on foot straight ahead app. 11 km in western direction to the Lake. The road is not accessible in winter for cars. As a typical mountain lake the water is very clean (A grade quality). It remains even in summer cold. The Lake was created as remnant, when the ''Feuerstein Ferner'' had drawn itself. Transhumance In The Alps
Alpine transhumance is transhumance as practiced in the Alps, that is, a seasonal droving of grazing livestock between the valleys in winter and the high mountain pastures in summer (German ' from the term for "seasonal mountain pasture", '). Transhumance is a traditional practice that has shaped much of the landscape in the Alps, as without it, most areas below would be forests. While tourism and industry contribute today much to Alpine economy, seasonal migration to high pastures is still practiced in Bavaria, Austria, Slovenia, Italy, France and Switzerland, except in their most frequented tourist centers.
