Strong Group Athletics
The Strong Group Athletics is an organization which sponsors basketball and volleyball teams in the Philippines. The Strong Group was founded by Filipino businessman Frank Lao. History Basketball They build its own basketball team which has competed in the Dubai International Basketball Championship in the United Arab Emirates. They debuted in the 2023 edition, with Mighty Sports and Acto City sponsoring their stint. Strong Group, coached by Charles Tiu, finished as quarterfinalists. Volleyball In 2023, they became the new main sponsor of the UE Lady Red Warriors volleyball team in the UAAP, acquiring six new recruited players and appointing Jerry Yee as the new head coach of the Lady Warriors. The Strong Group also helped Premier Volleyball League club Quezon City Gerflor Defenders resolved its player salary issue which was first reported in November 2023, during the 2023 Second All-Filipino Conference. Basketball
Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball (approximately in diameter) through the defender's hoop (a basket in diameter mounted high to a backboard at each end of the court, while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop. Strong Group Athletics (SGA) is a men's basketball team based in the Philippines. It is owned and managed by an organization of the same name, which was founded by the Filipino businessman Frank Lao. They are not part of any domestic leagues but a frequent participant of international club tournaments such as the William Jones Cup and the Dubai International Basketball Championship. UE Lady Warriors Volleyball
The UE Lady Red Warriors volleyball program is the collegiate women's varsity volleyball team of the University of the East. The team competes in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). On March 3, 2024, the UAAP temporarily suspended the team's head coach, Jerry Yee, for three months, stating thus: "On February 29, 2024, the BOT concurred with the BMD findings that Coach Yee had engaged in acts inconsistent with the league's objectives." Benilde Lady Blazers Volleyball
The College of Saint Benilde Lady Blazers women's volleyball team is the volleyball teams of De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde. History The CSB Lady Blazers first joined NCAA women's volleyball tournament in 1998. They claimed their first NCAA women's volleyball championship in the NCAA Season 91 beating the thrice-to-beat San Sebastian Lady Stags in 4th sets on the do-or-die Game 4 of the NCAA Season 91 finals series. The Pilipinas Super League (PSL) is a professional basketball league in the Philippines. History The Pilipinas Super League (PSL) was founded in December 2021 by former officials of another league; the Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup. It was established by former VisMin Cup CEO Rocky Chan and former COO Chelito Caro. Chan assumed the post of PSL President and Caro as the league commissioner. Former professional basketballer Marc Pingris was appointed as commissioner in January 2022 succeeding Caro. The PSL aims to garner at least 10 teams for its inaugural season. UE Red Warriors refer to the collegiate men's varsity teams of the University of the East. The women's collegiate varsity teams are called the UE Lady Warriors. Benilde Blazers Basketball
The Benilde Blazers basketball program represents De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde (CSB) in men's basketball as a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines) (NCAA).
