Stripmall Architecture
Stripmall Architecture is an American dream pop group. It was formed when Ryan and Rebecca Coseboom's previous band, Halou, dissolved. The expanded band includes Tim Hingston (guitar), Patrick Harte (drums), Erica 'Unwoman' Mulkey (cello), and other supporting musicians for their live shows and recording sessions. The band used the service Kickstarter to generate funds to produce their new LP, ''Feathersongs For Factory Girls''. Part one was released in April 2010, and part two followed a year later in 2011. Both parts were released together on a limited numbered edition double 10" LP on white vinyl in early 2011. The band was interviewed on Seattle's KEXP 90.3 radio station on 12/09/09, performing several tracks live in studio. They also covered LCD Soundsystem's song "Drunk Girls". Dream Pop
Dream pop (also typeset as dreampop) is a subgenre of alternative rock and neo-psychedelia that emphasizes atmosphere and sonic texture as much as pop melody. Common characteristics include breathy vocals, dense productions, and effects such as reverb, echo, tremolo, and chorus. It often overlaps with the related genre of shoegaze, and the two genre terms have at times been used interchangeably. The genre came into prominence in the 1980s through groups associated with the UK label 4AD, most prominently Cocteau Twins, This Mortal Coil, and A.R. Kane. Subsequently, UK-based acts such as My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, and Lush alongside US-based artists Galaxie 500, Julee Cruise, and Mazzy Star released significant albums in the style. Halou
''Halou'' is a dream pop band from San Francisco, California. Originally formed in 1997 by couple Rebecca and Ryan Coseboom, the band was officially dissolved in 2008 before breaking their 11 year hiatus with the release of their album ''Brutalism For Lovers'' (2019). History Ryan and Rebecca met in 1992 as the drummer and vocalist for the Santa Cruz-based band Anomie. That group would change Ryan's musical focus from techno pop (as the main keyboardist of Thinner) to more ambient guitar work, and transform Rebecca from a riot girl enthusiast into someone more at home with 4AD. Anomie's shoegaze sound met with rapid success in Santa Cruz on the strength of their album Burgundy Girl. The band later moved to San Francisco before the group split into two bands. John Fryer (music)
John Fryer (born 1958) is a multi-platinum record producer of international acclaim. Best known for his production work, he has also performed as a musician, as one of the two constant members of This Mortal Coil (along with Ivo Watts-Russell), providing keyboards, strings and synthesizer sequencing for the band, and its offshoot, the Hope Blister. He is married to musician, artist, and gallerist Trace Fryer. Career In 1980, he worked as assistant at Blackwing Studios, which was British recording studio created by Eric Radcliffe. The studio would go on to become famous for recording music from the likes of Depeche Mode and other bands.
