''Strictly Money'' is a business news programme aired on CNBC Europe in the United Kingdom and for domestic customers in the Republic of Ireland, each weekday at 11:00am Western European Time, between 2009 and 2011. It was usually presented by Ross Westgate. The programme was also aired in the US on CNBC World at 6am ET. About the programme The programme began on 12 January 2009, and replaced ''Power Lunch Europe''. Originally intended as a twelve-week experiment, the programme appeared to have become a permanent fixture in the CNBC Europe schedule. While advertised as "strictly for the United Kingdom", the programme was in fact also broadcast on both the Sky Digital and UPC Ireland systems in the Republic of Ireland, meaning that practically all domestic and a large proportion of commercial customers also in Ireland received the programme. Ross Westgate
Ross Westgate (born 1967) is an English financial journalist and businessman. Biography Before studying for a postgraduate degree in Broadcast Journalism, he worked for 6 years in the City of London, where he was trained as a stockbroker, working with private clients. For almost 20 years Ross worked for CNBC Europe. He anchored '' Morning Exchange'' and ''Power Lunch Europe''. He also was a regular anchor and contributor on '' Squawk Box Europe''. He also has daily appearances on MSNBC's ''Morning Joe'', hosted by former Republican Congressman Joe Scarborough, where he reports on business news in different European countries, and many others. In 2005 Ross became launch anchor of the global business news programme ''Worldwide Exchange''. ''Power Lunch Europe'' was a television business news programme on CNBC Europe, aired from noon to 1 pm CET (11 am to noon WET) each weekday, though it shared little with its U.S. counterpart other than its name. The programme was most recently presented by Louisa Bojesen, but it has been on hiatus since January 2009. Format For many years, prior to March 2007, the format of the programme remained constant. The first half of the show consisted solely of a segment called ''Halftime Report'', presented from the CNBC Europe video wall. This detailed the major trades from each of the major European bourses (the London Stock Exchange, Euronext Paris, and the Frankfurt Stock Exchange), as well as several of the minor exchanges, commodity and bond trading, and United States futures exchanges. CNBC World is an American pay television business news channel operated by the NBCUniversal News Group which provides coverage of world markets alongside the domestic CNBC service, using programmes from CNBC's international networks based in Europe, Asia, India, and other regions served by a domestic CNBC channel or affiliate. Effectively, this makes the network's prime time timeslot the graveyard slot, due to time zone differences, when it simulcasts live programming from their overseas sister networks.
