Strenči Municipality
Strenči Municipality ( lv, Strenču novads) is a former municipality in Vidzeme, Latvia. The municipality was formed in 2009 by merging Jērcēni parish, Plāņi parish, Strenči town and Seda town with its countryside territory; the administrative centre being Strenči. The population in 2020 was 2,838. On 1 July 2021, Strenči Municipality ceased to exist and its territory was merged into Valmiera Municipality. Administrative Divisions Of Latvia
The current administrative division of Latvia came into force on 1 July 2021. On 10 June 2020, the Saeima approved a municipal reform that would reduce the 110 municipalities and nine republic cities to 43 local government units consisting of 36 municipalities (''novadi'') and seven state cities (''valstspilsētas, plural''). On 1 June 2021, the Constitutional Court of Latvia ruled that the annexation of Varakļāni Municipality to Rēzekne Municipality was unconstitutional. In response, the Saeima decided to preserve the existence of Varakļāni Municipality as a 43rd local government unit. Previous municipal reforms after the restoration of Latvian independence were enacted in 2009 and 1990 (when parishes were restored). Seda, Latvia
Seda () is a town in Valmiera Municipality in the Vidzeme region of Latvia. It is founded in 1952. The major local industry is extraction of peat. The town is remarkable for its 1950s-style Stalinist architecture, dating from the glory days of Seda, when workers from all over the Soviet Union came to work for the peat extraction enterprise. Joint stock company "Seda" is still a major employer. The town and its people were the subject of the documentary film ''Seda: People of the Marsh'' ( lv, Seda. Rosice
Rosice (; german: Rossitz) is a town in Brno-Country District in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 6,500 inhabitants. Geography Rosice is located about southwest of Brno. It lies in the Boskovice Furrow. The Bobrava River flows through the town. History The first written mention of Rosice is from 1259. The most prominent owners of the manor were the Zierotins, who acquired it in 1562 and built a castle here. In 1907, Rosice was promoted to a town by Franz Joseph I of Austria. A sister city or a twin town relationship is a form of legal or social agreement between two geographically and politically distinct localities for the purpose of promoting cultural and commercial ties. While there are early examples of international links between municipalities akin to what are known as sister cities or twin towns today dating back to the 9th century, the modern concept was first established and adopted worldwide during World War II. Strenči
