''Strathmore'' was a British ship in the 1870s. On 1 July 1875, while on a voyage from Dundee in the United Kingdom to Otago, New Zealand, the ship was wrecked off the Crozet Islands. The passengers and crew were considered dead after the ship did not arrive at its final destination. However, 44 crew and passengers managed to survive on a small island by eating eggs and geese, albatrosses, and other seabirds. They also ate root vegetables and fish. RMS ''Strathmore'' was an ocean liner and Royal Mail Ship of the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company (P&O), the third of five sister ships built for P&O in the "Strath" class. Launched in 1935, she served on the company's route from London to India until 1940, when she was requisitioned for war service as a troop ship, and redesignated as SS ''Strathmore'', until being returned to her owners in 1948. After a long refit, she resumed service with P&O from 1949 until 1963, when she was sold to Latsis Lines and renamed ''Marianna Latsi'', then ''Henrietta Latsi'', before being laid up in 1967 and finally scrapped in 1969. Strathmore Football Club is an Australian rules football club located 7 km north west of Melbourne in the suburb of Strathmore and was founded in 1954 as a junior club. The senior club was established in 1957. The club originally played its home games in Pascoe Vale before moving to its current home at Lebanon Reserve in Strathmore. Strathmore Park
Strathmore Park is a suburb of Wellington City, New Zealand. It is located at the southern end of the Miramar Peninsula to the south of the suburb of Miramar, and due east of the airport. A hill suburb, it overlooks Lyall Bay (which lies to the west), Evans Bay (to the North) and several bays along the Seatoun coast close to the mouth of Wellington Harbour, which lies to the east. Strathmore Park is noted for several areas of open land, including the Beacon Hill Reserve and Miramar Golf Course.
