Strandegård
Strandegaard is a manor house and estate located in Faxe Municipality, Denmark. The estate was acquired by Otto Thott and two sisters in 1631 and is still owned by the Thott/Reedtz-Thott family. It is managed as an organic farm and other activities include Feddet Beach Camping & Resort. History Early history Strandegård Manor was established by Axel Sehested in 1662 at the site where the village of Fiskerhoved had until then been located. The area had until then belonged to the Crown but was by Frederick III presented to Sehested after the Second Northern War. Sehested later that same year sold the estate to a merchant from Copenhagen named Hans Pedersen Klein. Petersen Klein's widow Magdalene Mogensdatter was after her husband's death second time married to Ernst Volcher. In 1686, Magdalene Mogensdatter sold Strandegård to merchant Peder Jensen. Faxe Municipality
Faxe Municipality () is a '' kommune'' in Denmark in the Region Sjælland on the island of Zealand. The municipality covers an area of 406 km2 and has a population of 37,820 (2025). Its mayor as of January 2018 is Ole Vive. He is a member of the agrarian liberal Venstre political party. On 1 January 2007 Faxe municipality, as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), came into existence by merging the three former municipalities of Haslev, Fakse, and Rønnede. Tage Reedtz-Thott
Kjeld Thor Tage Otto, Friherre Reedtz-Thott (13 March 1839 – 27 November 1923), was a Danish politician, landowner and member of the Højre political party. He was Council President of Denmark from 1894 to 1897 as the leader of the Reedtz-Thott Cabinet. Biography Tage Reedtz-Thott was born at Gavnø Castle on the island of Gavnø near Naestved, Denmark. He was the son of the baron Otto Reedtz-Thott (1785-1862) and Karen Julie Elisabeth Frederikke Fønns (1814-1844). He graduated cand. phil. in 1860. He continued his studies in Geneva and Paris. He took over the Barony Gavnø upon the death of his father in 1862. The Barony of Gavnø comprised the estates Gavnø, Lindesvold and Strandegård. Otto Thott
Otto Thott (13 October 1703 – 10 September 1785) was a Danish Count, minister of state, and land owner. During his lifetime, he acquired Gavnø Castle and one of the largest private collections of book and manuscripts in Denmark. Early life and education He was the son of Tage Thott (1648–1707), a member of the Danish Privy Council and county governor of Holbæk. After the death of his father, his mother, Petra Sophie Reedtz (1675–1720) sold the manor at Turebyholm and moved with him to Sorø, where he attended school. After the death of his mother, he was supported financially by several aunts and was able to continue his education and development abroad. He lived for a time in Halle, where he studied history, philosophy and Jurisprudence at the University of Halle-Wittenberg. Gavnø
Gavnø is a small island off the west coast of Zealand in Næstved Municipality, Denmark. Located some 6 km south-west of Næstved, it has an area of 5.6 km2, and, as of 1 January 2010, it has a population of 57. The name comes from Gapnø (''Gap Island'') as the straight between the island and Zealand was named Karlsgap. Gavnø Castle Gavnø is now associated mainly with Gavnø Castle, an impressive Rococo manor house with an attractive park. The park surrounding the estate is known for its rare trees, rose garden and, above all, its extensive display of bulbs. Lindersvold
Lindersvold is a former manor house and estate located just north of Præstø Fjord, Faxe Municipality, some fifty kilometres south of Copenhagen, Denmark. The estate was founded by Christoffer Lindenov and remained in the hands of the Lindenoc family for almost one hundred years. It was later owned by the Thott/Reedtz-Thott family between 1732 and 1923, from 1705 as part of the Barony of Gavnø. The current main building is from 1830. Lindersvold is now owned by Den selvejende institution Fælleseje and operated as a private primary school for children with special challenges under the name Heldagsskolen Lindersvold. Realdania is a private association in Denmark which supports projects in architecture and planning. It was established in 2000 following the sale of Realkredit Danmark to Danske Bank, when a fund of approximately 20 billion kroner (EUR 2.7 billion) was put aside for "philanthropic" purposes. Realkredit Danmark was owned and controlled by its members (mortgage lenders), and this set-up was kept in Realdania.
