Stradisphere Festival
Stradisphere Festival is an annual music festival held in Stradbroke, Suffolk, England, in July. It celebrated its 5th year in 2018 with headliners Badly Drawn Boy and Sam and the Womp Sam and the Womp is a British pop group consisting of trumpeter Sam Ritchie and Dutch-born vocalist Bloem de Ligny, also known as Lady Oo. The band's music mixes traditional elements of Balkan music with modern dub and drum 'n' bass elements. .... The festival was founded by Brett and Jo Baber in 2014. Until 2018 the festival mostly had smaller and tribute bands performing, but has expanded and aspires to be 'a premier family music festival'. To advertise the 2018 festival, organisers promoted the festival across Suffolk using a person dressed as a spaceman who visited local businesses and posed for photos in well-known locations. Stradbroke
Stradbroke ( ) is an English village in the Mid Suffolk district of the county of Suffolk. The ''Census'' of 2011 gave the parish a population of 1,408, with an estimate of 1,513 in 2018. Heritage The village was listed in the Domesday Book of 1096 as being in the Bishop's Hundred,Open Domesday: Stradbroke accessed February 2020. later renamed Hoxne Hundred. The village name was sometimes spelt Stradbrook in the Middle Ages and in local documents as late as the early 19th century. Badly Drawn Boy
Damon Michael Gough (born 2 October 1969), known by the stage name Badly Drawn Boy, is an English indie singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Gough chose his stage name from a character in the show ''Sam and his Magic Ball'', which he saw on TV at a party in Trafford, Greater Manchester, in 1995. Before he thought of using this name he made some business cards, each one unique, with a printed picture of a drawing by his nephew and a small collage by Gough. A chance meeting with Andy Votel at the Generation X bar in Manchester, where Gough's friends Scott Abraham and Damon Hayhurst were contributing to an exhibition by the Space Monkey Clothing Company and Votel was DJing, led to the foundation of Twisted Nerve Records. Sam and the Womp is a British pop group consisting of trumpeter Sam Ritchie and Dutch-born vocalist Bloem de Ligny, also known as Lady Oo. The band's music mixes traditional elements of Balkan music with modern dub and drum 'n' bass elements. From its formation in 2009 to 2014, the band also included producer Aaron "Audio" Horn, the son of musician and producer Trevor Horn. The group's debut single " Bom Bom" was released as a digital download on 19 August 2012, went to the No. 1 spot in the UK Singles Chart and has sold over a million copies worldwide. In 2012, they signed to Stiff Records and One More Tune.
