Storhamar Hockey, often referred to by its Acronym and initialism, initials SIL, is a Norway, Norwegian ice hockey team based in Hamar, Norway. The club currently plays in the EliteHockey Ligaen, the highest level of Norwegian hockey. The club has won eight regular season titles and seven national championships since its founding on 18 March 1957. Storhamar play their home games in the CC Amfi. The club also includes the largest junior department in Norwegian ice hockey. The team colours are yellow and blue. History The 1952 Winter Olympics inspired local Hamar youth to form a hockey club in the area. The first ice rink was constructed in 1955, and Storhamar was formally accepted into the Norwegian Ice Hockey Association two years later. The 2014–15 GET-ligaen is the 76th and current season of Norway's premier ice hockey league, Eliteserien (known as GET-ligaen for sponsorship reasons). Vålerenga Ishockey (; abbreviated as VIF) is a Norwegian professional ice hockey team based in Oslo, Norway. Vålerenga has been the dominant force in Norwegian hockey since the 1960s, claiming 26 national championships and 29 regular season titles. Their old home arena, located in central-eastern Oslo, was Jordal Amfi, built for the 1952 Winter Olympics. In 2020, Vålerenga moved in to their new arena at Jordal. The 2013–14 GET-ligaen is the 75th and current season of Norway's premier ice hockey league, Eliteserien (known as GET-ligaen for sponsorship reasons). The regular season began play on September 14, 2013 and concluded on March 4, 2014, with Vålerenga claiming the League Championship in the last match, defeating Stavanger Oilers 7–1. Promotion and relegation is used by sports leagues as a process where teams can move up and down among divisions in a league system, based on their performance over a season. Leagues that use promotion and relegation systems are sometimes called open leagues. EliteHockey Ligaen (EHL) is the premier Norwegian ice hockey league, organised by the Norwegian Ice Hockey Association. It comprises 10 clubs and works on the premise of promotion and relegation, in which the two teams who placed last must play the top two teams from First Division (the league ranked immediately below) for the rights to play in the next Eliteserie season. Teams from the EHL can participate in the IIHF's annual Champions Hockey League (CHL), competing for the European Trophy. Storhamar Hockey is a Norwegian ice hockey club based in Hamar. They are members of the highest Norwegian ice hockey league, GET-ligaen, Eliteserien (known as GET-ligaen for sponsorship reasons). Their home arena has been Hamar OL-Amfi since 1992. Ice hockey in Hamar was first played in 1955 by boys who had been inspired by the 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo. This became the basis of Storhamar Ishockey, which was founded in 1957 as a department of the sports club Storhamar IL. Since 1998, they have been marketing themselves as the Storhamar Dragons. Ishockeyklubben Sparta Sarpsborg is a Norwegian ice hockey team based in Sarpsborg, Norway. They currently play in EliteHockey Ligaen. They play their home games in the Sparta Amfi arena and is Norway's oldest ice hockey rink. The team colours are blue and white. History The ice hockey department of IL Sparta was founded in 1958, and got off to a fantastic start when Norway's first indoor hockey arena, Sparta Amfi, was opened in 1963. The 2016–17 GET-ligaen was the 78th season of Norway's premier ice hockey league, GET-ligaen. The regular season began play in September 2016. There were no team changes from the 2015–16 season. Participating teams Arenas Vålerenga Ishockey played their last home game at Jordal Amfi on January 7. A new arena will be constructed at the site, planned for completion in September 2018. Vålerenga will finish the season with Furuset Forum as a temporary arena. Regular season Winter Classic An outdoor match featuring Stjernen and Sparta Warriors was played January 21, 2017. Erik Kristiansen (born 12 March 1961 in Furnes, Norway) is a former Norwegian ice hockey player. Playing career He played 20 seasons with the Storhamar Dragons of Hamar, Norway. He also played 97 games for Norway's National team (IIHF World Championship and Winter Olympics). He was named the best Norwegian player in 1985, earning him the Golden Puck award.
